Financing options of Czech feature film from the perspective of creators

This thesis evaluates the financing options of Czech feature film from the perspective of the creators. The first part deals with an overview of the options and their brief description, the second part focuses on the analysis of interviews with filmmakers who answered questions about the choice of the producer, the level of budget, experience with specific resources and finally presented their own opinions about the general possibilities of financing of Czech films. The final summary is established on the basis of the analysis of the interviewees's opinions and experience.

The goal of this Bachelor´s thesis is to estimate the yield of collected taxes, local taxes and rents resulting in film incentive and flowing into public budgets in the Czech Republic. The thesis describes the relationship of the state and film industry before and after 1989, and the system of film incentives. The possibility of estimation and the estimation itself, which is processed for the currently shooting film Interlude in Prague, the film incentive is allocated in the amount of 37,961,408 CZK. My estimation of the revenue is in the amount of 28,129,795 CZK.
Role of foreign film productions in promoting the Czech film industry and the Czech Republic

The aim of this master thesis is to describe and evaluate the role of incoming foreign productions entering the Czech film industry after 1989. The foreign film productions tend to affect the Czech film culture in a broader context. Specifically, changes occured in governmental support of both Czech and foreign production. The film industry is not kept away from the intensifying conditions on world markets. In the recent years, this factor is leading to a greater competition in terms of attracting foreign productions to domestic locations by the system of fiscal incentives. Having these in mind, this thesis outlines until which range are the foreign productions beneficial for the state, as well as it proposes the possible manner of the Czech republic promotion abroad.
Support for cinematography in the Czech Republic after 1989

Diploma thesis deals with public financing of Czech cinematography from 1989 to the present, focusing on state funds. It outlines the economic aspects of public support of this specific area and puts film into economic theory of goods and into the concept of cultural and creative industries. It also describes the legislative development up to the present Audiovisual Act, by which the State Cinematography Fund was established. The paper analyzes the structure of the Fund, its activities and its funding. Another object of the research is the development of financing of cinematography support. The thesis identifies sources of funding to support the film, and for what purposes it has been spent. For comparison it provides a brief overview of support in Europe and the description of support schemes in Great Britain and France. Main goal of the thesis is to evaluate the development and current state of public support for the film.
