The subject of this document is to introduce a specific region on the border of Austria and Italy: South Tyrol. The document is focused on explaining historical events that have shaped the region; presents economic and political connotations. It explains the issues with the region name in different languages. Important points of the document are the current position and role of the region in the Italian regionalism, its relations with Austria and frictions that arise from the efforts to gain the full autonomy statute.
