Antispam software plugin for e-mail filtering based on geolocation of the sender

This thesis deals with the creation of a module for antispam software providing email filtering using sender geolocation. The theoretical part of the thesis describes spam in general and the threats that spread through email communication, such as social engineering and malware. Then the principle of email and email headers, email filters and their methods to filter messages are described and lastly IP geolocation and machine location methods are described.The created filtering module Geolock was designed for the SpamAssassin antispam software and uses the IP2Location geolocation database. The embedding of the module into SpamAssassin is shown and the module itself and its different parts are described. The module is tested on a dataset and a real-life application is outlined. The Geolock module is published on GitHub under the MIT license (https://github.com/MartinKovarik/Geolock).

The thesis is involves the desing antispam solution for operating system GNU/Linux. At the first is going through theory of transport, receive mail message and problematic of spam. The content of thesis is realize mail server with mail transfer agent Postfix. Amavis was used as antispam solution, which make an interface between Postfix and content checkers. This was created by SpamAssassin and ClavAV. Main goal was created aplication for setting of antispam filters. The result is possibility of setting a creating filters with black and white lists. An Anti-spam Software Plugin For E-Mail Classification Based On Geographical Location Of The Sender

Every e-mail sent must be transferred by one or more mail servers. Some of these servers are connected to the Internet using a public IP address. IP addresses can be geographically located, e.g., using geolocation databases. This means e-mails can be classified by the location of the sender. This paper introduces an anti-spam plugin for such classification. The plugin is implemented for SpamAssassin anti-spam software. The basic functionality was implemented. By using this plugin, one can define a penalty score for specific countries as e-mail origins.
