Sonatas by Johann Kuhnau and their Use during Piano Lessons

This thesis deals with the life and work of Johann Kuhnau and focuses mainly on the following categories: 1. The life and work of Johann Kuhnau 2. The work for keyboard musical instruments 3. Sonatas by Johann Kuhnau 4. The use of his sonatas during piano lessons This thesis deals with a biography of Johann Kuhnau and presents his works for keyboard instruments. This is followed by a short chapter about a sonata form, its definition and progression. The third chapter is focuses on the sonatas by Johann Kuhnau, especially on his fourth collection named Biblical Sonatas which are presented here in the context of stories from the Old Testament. The final chapter focuses on the didactic and interpretive knowledge of Kuhnau's sonatas from his third and fourth collections for keyboard instruments. The aim of the work is to introduce Johann Kuhnau to reader, to point out his contribution in the field of music and to present the possibilities of working with his collections for keyboard instruments in teaching the piano at today's art schools. The piano as an accompanying musical instrument in the kindergarten.

The topic of my bachelor's thesis is using the piano in the accompanying play in the kindergarten. The theoretical part deals with the development of preschool children, musical development and the effect of music on the child. Furthermore the music activitis, which are implemented in the kindergarten in aspect of music education in the educational area of RVP PV. The practical part focuses on areas of musical activities, which teachers realize during playing on the piano. Which activities they use to play on the piano and how often the play on the piano with children during musical activities. The research is mixed, methods of watching in musical activities and interviews with teachers were used.

Possible relation between instrument playing and occurrence of musculoskeletal disorders among guitarists and pianists

Playing a musical instrument requires hours of exposure to a fixed position and a performance of greatly repeated movements. This excessive physical load in combination with other factors can often result in playing-related musculoskeletal disorders (PRMD). This thesis specifies the definition of PRMD, clarifies the idea of musician's medicine as a fairly new specialization, titles the most commonly occurring medical conditions and risk factors in musicians with an emphasis on guitarists (classical and electric guitar players) and pianists. It also offers recommendations on how to play these instruments with respect to the ergonomics. The aim of practical part of the thesis was to find the possible relation between PRMD and instrument playing among guitarists and pianists in the last 12 months. It was composed of three parts: questionnaire of musculoskeletal disorders, clinical examination and video-analysis of instrument playing. The study surveyed 401 guitarists and pianists without specified instrumental level. 19 of these participated in the clinical examination. The analysis of questionnaire data revealed PRMD in 55,6 % musicians mainly localized in neck (19,8 %); more specifically, in pianists in neck and both hands (equally 27,4 %); however, in guitarists in left hand (18,6 %). Interpreting J. S. Bach's Piano Partita No. 2

The aim of this thesis is to provide basic orientation in the context of Bach's Piano Partitas, their content and composing strategies Bach's music encompasses in general. In the opening of the thesis, there is a brief summary of the composers's biography aimed on the moments that are connected to the creation of the partita. Hence, the work is described in detail, each part is commented on and demonstrated in short extracts of music. The author of the thesis then explores, comments and compares various interpretations and recordings made by great piano and harpsichord female personas such as Martha Argerich, Tatiana Nikolayeva and Zuzana Ruzickova. A very important chapter of this work is the one that deals with historical musical instruments (clavichord, harpsichord, organ) as opposed to usage of a modern piano and the specifics of interpreting baroque music on a keayboard instrument such as melodic ornaments, dynamics, articulation and so on. The author also refers to her personal practical experience with this piece of music and discusses it from the interpretational and pedagogical point of view.
