Oriental dance in the context of women's health

The thesis deals with the influence of Oriental dancing on woman´s health. The theoretical part focuses on the history of belly dancing - when and for what reason it actually came into being, as well as the disapproving if not downright scandalized perception of the society belly dancing has had to overcome in the last two hundred years and the role it can play in the life of every women today. The thesis also concentrates on the specific features of belly dancing and differences from other physical activities including all its health effects.The practical part includes an analysis and assessment of a questionnaire survey conducted with 82 dancing respondents of all age groups in randomly chosen belly dancing studios. The aim of the thesis was to ascertain the influence belly dancing has on all spheres of woman´s health. The research answered questions of how it influenced the life of the dancers, where they can see the positives and what the negatives are. The respondents agreed that belly dancing positively influences not only physical health but also psychological and spiritual. Oriental dancing substantionallyenriched their everyday life.
