Ekologie lesního společenstva ptáků na Papui Nové Guinei
CHMEL, Kryštof
The thesis addresses several aspects of ecology of lowland rainforest avifauna in Papua New Guinea. It describes spatial and temporal distributional patterns of abundance and diversity of bird community and different feeding guilds. More specifically, spatial patterns were explored in relation to topography, tree species composition, forest structure including vertical forest strata and inter-specific associations. The thesis also focuses on nest survival in continuous and fragmented forest, particularly in relation to nest predation.
The study of nest predation of reed warbler (Acrocephalus scirpaceus) using artificial nests
ROHELOVÁ, Markéta
The aim of this thesis was to find out the extent of the predation of the Eurasian Reed Warbler (Acrocephalus scirpaceus) during the laying period in the South Bohemian Region. The survey was done by means of artificial nests containing fake eggs. Additional goal of the thesis was to evaluate the factors that can influence the predation according to measured nest parameters, such as the distance of the artificial nest from free water surface, the depth of water below the nest and the distance from the nearest tree.
Nest predation risks in Northern Lapwing: the influence of nest krypsis and coloniality
ŠTOREK, Vladimír
This study is dealing with questions of environmental influences on predation risk in Northern Lapwings nests. I for example measured and evaluated nest krypsis and counting nest densities. I as well did marking of nests and dealed with question whether it has influence on nest predation. Another part of this resech was identifying of Lapwings nests predator.
Does removal of mammalian predators significantly affect success of simulated nests in linear habitats? Case study on American mink \kur{Mustela vison} \& Predation on simulated duck nests in relation to nest density and habitat type
PADYŠÁKOVÁ, Eliška
This thesis is made up of two studies dealing with predation of waterfowl nests. in the first study, we determined wheather removal of introduced predator Mustela vison affected nest survival of simulated duck nests in linear habitat. In the second study, we tested two hypothesis: 1)predation depends on density of waterfowl nests, 2)mammals are main predators in forest habitat and birds mainly depredate nests deployed in open land.
