Financial Analysis of Selected Low-Cost Banks

The main objective of this master thesis is to develop a financial analysis of selected low-cost banks and their mutual comparison. Two Czech banks and one Swedish bank of similar specialization, size, and length of operation were selected for this purpose. Thesis is divided into several thematic parts. At first, theoretical model of low-cost bank is introduced. In the next part Czech and Swedish banking markets are described. A separate chapter is focused on principles of bank financial analysis and most important ratios. In the last part financial analysis of selected banks is performed. Key findings are then compared and assessed. The author finds out that development of selected banks is not alike and discovers significant differences in activities and strategies across monitored banks.
Analysis of bank charges and their financing alternatives

This bachelor thesis deals with the analysis of bank charges associated with the current account. The aim of the thesis is to find the best current account for students by using two model clients for selected accounts. Another objective is to analyze the possibilities of covering the costs incurred with the use of a current account by means of financial rewards provided by some banks in the current account and by other bank products. The partial objective of the thesis is to verify the hypothesis whether small low-cost banks offer a current account associated with lower bank charges than large banks.
Influence of low-cost banks on banking trade in the CR

The aim of the thesis is to analyse in what ways the entry of the low-cost banks in the banking market in the Czech Republic influenced the fee policy of the large banks. The intermediate aim of the thesis is to find the most appropriate bank for a particular client. The theoretical part of the thesis deals with the situation and the development of the banking in the market economy, with the banking system, the financial market, the general overview and the bank products specification. Basic terms closely connected with the bank account are explained. In the practical part low-cost banks working in the Czech banking market are introduced. Here is where their basic market results are compared and the development of the clients number of the low-cost banks in the course of time is presented. In the analytical part the comparison of bank fees related to the use of the current account is shown on the examples of model clients (passive, average and active client) with the three largest banks in the banking market in the Czech Republic before the entry and after the entry of low-cost banks. Hereafter the fees between particular banks on the present conditions in the market are compared. From the analysis follows that the most suitable institution offering the considered services free are Fio Bank and Air Bank with the profile Passive Client and UniCredit Bank and Equa bank with the profiles Average and Active Client.

Bachelor thesis is mainly focused on the financial analysis with using of the financial ratios. Banks which will be analysed are new, low-cost banks. In this thesis is also analysed banking market of the Czech Republic and market position of the chosen low-cost banks. Also, attention is given to description of these banks and its bank groups. In the last part of this bachelor thesis is mentioned even impact of access on market of these banks on structure and competition in this branch.
Analýza přímého bankovnictví v ČR se zaměřením na nízkonákladové banky

The bachelor work deals with single types of the direct banking in Czech Republic. I analysed both the working way of electronic (direct) banking and the security of these systems. I dealt with the low-cost banks as well and their cooperation with the classical banks. The purpose of the analysis was to determine the main differences in the direct banking of the chosen institutions mainly from the point of view of clients, customers' comfort, range of offer and the security of services. Another part of the work deals with the position of the low-cost banks on the Czech market and their development in the future.
