STRUCTURE AND ABOVEGROUND PRODUCTION IN A SELECTED MONODOMINANT STAND OF A EUTROPHIC WET MEADOW
KUNCOVÁ, Štěpánka
Anotation The bachelor thesis is part of the project of Ministry of Environment of the Czech Republic entitled CzechCarbo, which aims at assessing the carbon budget and cycle in the main types of ecosystems in the Czech Republic. This thesis is focused on the production of aboveground biomass and leaf area ratio in Carex acuta, which dominates the unmanaged and permanently flooded part of the Wet Meadows. The seasonal dynamics of aboveground plant production was followed using a series of 8 destructive harvests during the vegetation season., each in 8 replicates. In addition, a mid-summer harvest was accomplished in 24 replicates. The ighest value of live biomass of C. acuta was 244,12 g.m-2. The highest value of total aboveground biomass, which is close to the value of annual aboveground net production, was 352 g.m-2. The highest productivity of C. acuta, found on 5th May, was 6,24 g.m-2.day-1. The highest value of specific leaf area, 188 cm2.g-1 , was found on 29th May. The maximum leaf area ratio was 112 cm2.g-1 on 15th June. The highest leaf area index 2,51 m2.m-2 was found on 18th July. The results gained in 2006 are discussed with results of previous research focused on the biomass and production of C. acuta in the Wet Meadows.
Effect of N eutrofication of wetland soils on organic N content and quality
ŠEDA, Martin
This study deals with an effect of fertilization on amount and quality of free amino acids in soil from wet meadows affected by nutrient loading. Free amino acids were analysed in the soil from the field experiment situated at wet meadows, where an increased nutrient input is simulated (fertilizer NPK). The experiment was established on two sites with different types of soil {--} Záblatí with organic soil and Hamr with mineral soil, both areas in the South Bohemia region. The soil was repeatedly sampled for more than two years and year. One part of this study is focused on testing of ninhydrine-method and HPLC-method for measuring free amino acids and efficiency of different extractants.
Comparing aboveground primary production in areas of low and high nutrient levels in Mokré Louky, Třeboň Basin Biosphere Reserve
KÁPLOVÁ, Miroslava
Aboveground primary production differs depending on nutrient levels. This thesis compares net annual aboveground production and biomass levels in high and low areas of Mokré Louky. Aboveground plant biomass was collected from particular quadrats over two growing seasons, from April to September 2007 and April to October 2008. Samples were separated into species, dried and weighed.
