Microinsurance

This bachelor thesis deals with microinsurance as a segment of the microfinance industry. The aim of the thesis is to introduce the reader to the basic aspects of this field. To do so, the thesis is divided into 5 chapters. Each of the chapters is dedicated to a different aspect of microinsurance. The first charter incorporates microinsurance into microfinancing and briefly describes its genesis. The second chapter is dedicated to microfinance institutions and other organizations which address this issue. The third chapter aims to assess means of distribution of microinsurance products among the poor. Next chapter describes basic microinsurance products, their advantages and disadvantages and their effectiveness. The last chapter is focusing on recent development of microinsurance around the world and in three specific countries -- India, Kenya and Haiti.

Bachelor thesis focuses on the application of microinsurance products in Europe. In the first part, foreign sources of information from the microinsurance sector are presented, the term microinsurance is defined and the types of microinsurance are specified. The second part focuses on analysis of microinsurance products, which have been offered by Allianz company in 2014, and on identifying potential beneficiaries of these microinsurance products in Europe. Further work concentrates on surveying the situation of the insurance market in Moldova. The conclusion includes assessment of microinsurance products applicability based on the obtained knowledge.

Microfinance and economic crisis

This thesis deals with microfinance in developing countries. The first part of the work provides basic information of the origin, history and the principles of microfinancing. Another part of the work describes the various ways and possibilities of providing microfinance services, provides and compares concrete examples of microfinance institutions. Bachelor's thesis also offers informations about how to measure the effectiveness of microfinance institutions and their new alternatives. The aim of this work is to see how the current economic crisis affects individual microfinance services providers. The conclusion summarizes the findings.
