Envy in the work of Miguel de Unamuno and Antonio Machado
Štěpánová, Tereza ; Sánchez Fernández, Juan Antonio (advisor) ; Kalkusová, Tereza (referee)
The aim of this work is to analyse the theme of envy shown by writers of the Generation of ′98. I specifically focus on the approach of Miguel de Unamuno in the book called Abel Sánchez and the poetry of Antonio Machado namely in his ballad called La tierra de Alvargonzález. The work deals not only with the introduction and analysis of the theme of envy, which was very relevant after the loss of Cuba, but also the comparison between these two writers and their approaches. The theme of envy closely relates to the biblical story of Cain and Abel, which I often refer to, and which the Generation of ′98 was inspired by. I additionally briefly touch upon the life of Miguel de Unamuno and Antonio Machado and their other works where the theme of envy appears as well.
