Kapičková, Michaela
The primary goal of this thesis is to depict a development of wine and vine in art and development of wine labels. Special emphasis is placed on perception of wine labels as works of art. The most significant change in that perception caused Château Mouton Rothschild with their design labels. This work is divided into two parts. First part, which is summarizing depiction of wine and vine in art throughout the ages, shows that wine culture is inseparably connected to the human culture. Emphasis are here put on a link between the historical circumstances and actual state of winemaking and viticulture, because it influences the artists and consequently their works of art. The second part is dealing with development of wine labels and their perception as works of art. Special focus is placed on design labels of Château Mouton Rothschild, because they changed the way, how are wine labels perceived. Mouton Rothschild also drew attention to long-term interconnection of art and wine.
