The critical reception of the novel Sekyra in contemporary cultural periodicals
Beranová, Monika ; Batistová, Anna (advisor) ; Köpplová, Barbara (referee)
The bachelor thesis is focused on contemporary literary critique of the work of Sekyra from 1966. The author of the novel, Ludvík Vaculík was in the 1960s in the center of attention due to his journalistic activity, which was in conflict with the regime. Vaculík's attitude to the regime and to the Czechoslovak Communist Party evolved during his lifetime and influenced his literary and journalistic work. The analysis is complemented by an overview of his personal life, which determined the direction of his work. The essence of the work is the evaluation of contemporary literary reviews of the work, which appeared in various periodicals. The periodical analysis supplements the historical context of the political events in the 1960s, since the events of the era are crucial for the periodical reception of the novel.
