Hospice Care in the Eyes of the Public
HAVLÍČKOVÁ, Hana
This bachelor thesis deals with the issue of hospice care. Its goal is to compare the perception of hospice care of those people who had some personal experience with it and those who have not dealt with it. Another goal is to find out how this experience affects their perspective of dying. To achieve these goals the quantitative research strategy has been used. The method of data collecting has been realized via questionnaires. The researching cohort consisted of individuals whose relatives used the services of sv. Jan N. Neumann Hospice in Prachatice and also of the individuals who have not used such services. 89 respondents have participated on these questionnaires. The hypotheses were tested by the contingency table, chi-squared test and the T-test. The results of the research have shown that the experience with hospice care affects the potential selection of hospice care for the respondent himself or for his relatives. It also affects the appropriateness of hospice care for the last days of a dying person, and it projects into the appraisal of deceasing in hospice. The experience with hospice care also affects the arrangements for death - those with no experience are more likely unprepared. On the other hand, the experience with hospice care has not affect the appraisal of deceasing at home as a proper place for dying. It does not even have an impact on whether the respondents think or talk about their own mortality. The experience with hospice care also does not affect their opinion about the necessity of increasing the support and the public awareness about this type of care. It also does not affect the amount of fear or anxiety about respondent's death. With the issue of awareness about hospice care those respondents who had previous experiences with hospice care proved more knowledge. Nevertheless, it is still necessary to encourage the public awareness about hospice care.

VONEŠOVÁ, Lucie
This bachelor thesis is focused on finding out the attitude of lay audience to the problematic of palliative care. Based on the set goal, the following hypotheses were created: H1: The attitude of the lay audience to the problematic of palliative care varies according to age. H2: The attitude of the lay audience to the problematic of palliative care varies according to the highest attained level of education. H3: The attitude of the lay audience to the problematic of palliative care differs based on previous experience. In the theoretical part of the work, the palliative care is defined and divided, it is also defined for whom it is intended, where this care can be met and what are the most common needs of patients. It also presents important historical data in the development of palliative care. The research part was carried out with the help of quantitative survey. The data were collected in the form of online surveys, which consisted of 20 questions focused on palliative care, dying and death. The research group consisted of 180 respondents. Pearson's correlation coefficient was used in the statistical evaluation of the data. The research confirmed all 3 established hypotheses. Due to age, it was found out that older people perceive the greater importance of palliative care and more often associate it with the care of the sick and poor, compared to younger ones. Furthermore, the research showed that people with higher education more often combine palliative care with care for the terminally ill and care for the entire family of the sick. The last hypothesis found out that people, who experienced palliative care, more often understand the benefits of the care and combine the palliative care with care for the incurably ill. Considering the results, an information leaflet, which aim is to contribute to the enlightenement of the topic of palliative care for the lay audience, was prepared.

The second objective is to map the knowledge of cardiopulmonary emergency resuscitation in child patients. For the empirical part of the thesis the qualitative research in the form of semi-structured interviews was chosen. The research sample was made up of 8 non-selected members of the general public in the area of South Bohemian Region and Vysočina Region. Results were then categorized into 13 categories. HÁJKOVÁ, Markéta
The aim of the bachelor thesis is to map the view of the lay public on the profession of a nurse. The theoretical part refers about the development of nursing and the nursing profession throughout history. Furthermore, the work deals with the view of the nurse at present, describes her image and education of nurses at present, and also introduces us to the image of the nurse at the media, including factors that affects the view of the general public.3 hypotheses were used to explore the topic. H1: The perception of the role of nurses is influenced by the gender of the general public. H2: The perception of the prestige of the sisters is affected by the education of the general public. H3: The opinion of the general public on the profession of nurses is affected by the media image. To verify the hypothesis, a quantitative survey was demonstrated, by the form of a questionnaire for the general public. The complete number of returned compliant questionnaires was 195. The resulting data were further processed in the form of graphs or tables and the hypothesis was evaluated by the use of statistics. From the results of the survey, we found out that the lay public, during the first thinking about nurses, contemplates about help. However, we were interested in whether the perception of the role of nurses is influenced by the gender of the public, and due to differences in other elected answers, H1 was confirmed. We were also investigated whether the perception of the prestige of nurses is influenced by the education of the general public. Most of the respondents have a positive view of the prestige of the nurse profession. These respondents were mostly the ones with the highest secondary education with a high school diploma. There were also sufficiently represented other categories of educational attainment and after the evaluation of the data we found out, that the perception of the prestige of the nurses is not influenced by the education of the general public. H2 was therefore rejected. During the last hypothesis, we were interested in whether the public opinion on nurses is influenced by the media image. Most of the respondents think that the media does influence the public's view of nurses. H3 was therefore confirmed.

Introduction: The subjective perception of health and diseases is a factor affecting health condition of every one of us. Many times, in health facilities we meet with laymen who do not know the definitions of health, diseases and often they also do not know which factors damage their health. That can result in trivialization of the problems or overuse of medical services. Objectives of the thesis: The thesis aims to find out how does the lay audience in the Vysočina Region perceive health and disease, what it does for its health and how would it describe health promoting and health threating behavior. Methodology: For fulfilling the objectives the qualitative form of the research using semi-structured interview with twenty informants from lay audience was utilized. The selection of informants was intentional on the basis of preset criteria. It was ten men and women of various age categories. The gathered data were then literally rewritten and analyzed. Results: It turns out that perception of health and disease is highly individual, and many factors play a role in it. Many times, the idea of informants diverge from available literature. The difference in perception is apparent even in determination of the boundary between health and disease. The results shown that people who underwent some mild illness in the past and now they are in good health do not feel healthy. On the other hand, informants suffering from chronic disease do feel healthy. From the perspective of perceived risk factors which could damage health the informants mostly mentioned environment in which the individual grows up. It was also found out that most people do not do the maximum for their health and that they do realize their shortcomings. Conclusion: Knowledge of perceiving health and disease appears as very substantial due to need of education and prevention. In this regard it is mainly beneficial for offices of general practitioners which are in primary care and very often educate and inform their patients in the area of health and healthy lifestyle.

VACHALCOVÁ, Andrea
In my Bachelor{\crq}s Thesis I focused on some religious orders and congregations whose members work in healthcare facilities in the present day. Quantitative and qualitative research was determining the level of awareness and opinions of citizens concerning nursing care provided by religious sisters in the territory of Prague. The objective of the thesis was to establish in which way a patient perceived nursing care provided by religious sisters and whether he felt differences in the nursing care provided by religious sisters and ``secular{\crq}q nurses. Other objectives were to ascertain the level of awareness of the Prague secular public about religious sisters involved in nursing and what sort of information the registered ``secular{\crq}q nurses had about religious sisters. The intention of my work was to bring our almost entirely atheistic society some information about religious nursing activities in the territory of Prague and the possibilities of spiritual services in healthcare facilities. It has been established that patients in hospitals are interested in spiritual services and therefore it is possible to derive a recommendation for practice: within providing holistic care to intensify nurses{\crq} interventions in the area of the spiritual needs of the sick.
