Interactions between Kievan Rus' and Bohemia in the Early Middle Ages

The subject of the work is the study of long-distance contacts between Kievan Rus' and Bohemia in the early Middle Ages. In the introduction the possibilities of interaction study in archeology are generally evaluated and presented the methodology of the work. The second chapter evaluates in more detail the possibilities of interaction study and describes the types of trade contacts. The third chapter deals with long-distance trade and important points on the studied trade route. The next chapter presents written evidence of contact between the two areas and briefly recapitulates the political, cultural and economic development of Kievan Rus' and Bohemia in the period under discussion. The focus of the work will be mainly on monitoring the distribution of selected foreign artifacts in both areas: mainly Czech coins in the East and in Bohemia reliquary crosses of Eastern origin, Ovruch's whorls, clay eggs, so- called pisanky and imported jewelry. The general purpose of this work will be to understanding the socio-economic mechanisms of long-distance exchange between Central and Eastern Europe in the early Middle Ages.
