New synagogue Jablonec nad Nisou
Gorčák, Lukáš ; Baranyai, René (referee) ; Dulenčín, Juraj (advisor)
The subject of this thesis is the design of a new synagogue in Jablonec nad Nisou. The construction should be an impetus for the return of Jewish traditions and culture to the city of Jablonec nad Nisou. In addition to the synagogue, the buildings also include spaces for the Jewish community and the general public. The building program envisages the design of a synagogue, on the ground floor of which is located the ritual purification bath of the mikveh, then the administrative premises of the Jewish community, a community center with a library, a classroom and a lecture hall, a public part in the form of a kosher restaurant, and a museum with an exhibition space dedicated to Judaism. An integral part of the design is an outdoor public space that offers the possibility of recreation and spending free time. The location of the synagogue has a strong connection with the place of worship of the original burned down synagogue in Jablonec nad Nisou. Spreading awareness and preventing the spread of anti-Semitism is very important to the Jewish community. The building of the synagogue is located in a lucrative area in close proximity to the city center, near an important water feature, the river Lužická nisa. The attractiveness of the area is also complemented by good transport accessibility, especially from the nearby bus station and train station. Good accessibility is also ensured for car and bicycle transport. The individual buildings are designed in a minimalist way, so that they disturb the original historical buildings as little as possible, especially from the period of Art Nouveau and historicism. The form is three imaginary blocks. One separate synagogue is embedded in the slope where the original burned down synagogue was located. Next, two blocks connected to each other by a neck, which are turned towards each other in such a way as to respect the street line and at the same time open up the public space by the river. The facades of individual buildings are finished with concrete screed plaster. The color of the individual buildings is connected with the decoration of the original burned down synagogue. The pure concrete appearance of the synagogue enhances the importance of the sacral space and leaves the possibility of accentuating the decorative brass facade with perforated ornament. The administration and community center building is decorated in yellow tones. The building, which includes a museum and a restaurant, is painted red.
Renovation of the castle in Velké Němčice
Malínková, Valerie ; Muroň, Ivo (referee) ; Ležatka, Lukáš (advisor)
This bachelor thesis deals with the restoration of a castle in Velké Němčice. The thesis builds on an architectural study carried out in the AG033 course of the Restoration of Monuments Studio. The task of the thesis is to create a complete project for the appropriate restoration and reconstruction of the castle and to propose its new utilization. At the same time, the thesis focuses on the solution of the castle's immediate surroundings. The object of the solution will be designed as a socially cultural object with administrative functions. The castle should serve as a new town hall, and in accordance with this, the following rooms will be created in the castle: a ceremonial hall, information center, mayor's office, secretary's office, registry office, accountant's office, archive, library, club room, refreshment facility, and interactive room. To achieve the implementation of the new operation in the castle, the correct restoration of the historical object is necessary. Using surveys and historical sources, I examine the architectural values and construction of the building. I strive to preserve historically significant layers, remove intrusive modern elements, and return the object its original expression. With the help of new technologies, I also strive to preserve the building for future generations. I propose minimum use of modern structures and elements, and therefore mainly focus on proper reconstruction and restoration.
Multifunctional building Malá Amerika
Jašková, Tereza ; Muroň, Ivo (referee) ; Ležatka, Lukáš (advisor)
This bachelor work follows up on an architectural atelier project made in the winter semester of the third year of the bachelor program. The goal of this project is a plan of a new multifunctional building in the city part of Brno-Střed. The site is located on the corner of Nové Sady, Nádražní and Hybešova. There are Malá Amerika and Titanium buildings nearby. The new building respects the urban concept, and the new structures match the height of the already present buildings. The multifunctional building consists of three aboveground parts each of which has its own public services. The corner building serves as a shopping mall with administrative offices. The building next to the Titanium is used for its showrooms and administrative part and the last and lowest building houses a café with a multifunctional space and a library. The whole site is conjoined by its underground parking lot which is accessible through entrances on the north-west and north-east sides. The shape of the building copies the intersection and creates an imaginary rampart, which also creates a square between the structures of Malá Amerika and the multifunctional building. The stalls of these structures are made from concrete arches reminiscent of a historical viaduct, which used to be situated here. The upper floors are covered with cladding made from bricks. The building worked on has an atrium which provides more daylight to otherwise very deep floor layouts. The main goal was to create a pleasant and habitable space in this part of the city.

Hall conversion
Cvrčková, Aneta ; Mašek, Radomír (referee) ; Marek, Jiří (advisor)
The diploma thesis deals with the conversion of a building in the former Juta industrial complex in Přerov. The history of the halls dates back to the 19th century, when they served the engineering industry and then also the production of rope material. The hall is located very close to the train station and the bus station. This location is not a very popular place in the city. It is a place of activity of socially maladjusted groups, and the territory does not create a pleasant impression upon arrival in the city. The area has recently changed urbanistically with the construction of a new traffic shortcut, a four-lane road, which is supposed to improve the traffic situation and create faster passage through the city. The shortcut runs through the center of the former industrial area, along the wall of the indoor building being designed and along the brewery. The areas around are vacant and unused. Existing buildings in the area have been dilapidated for many years. These are strong impulses to design a transformation of location and especially the transformation of a vast industrial hall. The attached pre-diploma project is dedicated to the design of the entire area of the former factory. The proposed object is the already mentioned hall, formed by the connection of three tracts, which are situated in an L shape, which opens towards the current Škodova Street. The building impresses with its arched roofs. The floor plan of the building is free, undivided, which makes it possible to use the space for various gathering events. The project should strengthen the amenities of the city. Culture is disappearing in the city, there is no hall for contemporary events, concerts, performances, there is also no exhibition hall. The city library has been looking for a new location for many years. A new building is not being considered yet. This building is large enough to occupy the hall, its facilities and create a new seat for the city library. The location is well connected to city transport and a short distance from the city centre.
The city library and public space in the area of the former sugar factory in Břeclav
Juříček, Pavel ; Šindlar, Jiljí (referee) ; Marek, Jiří (advisor)
The current appearance of the former Cukrovar site in Břeclav has been unsatisfactory for a long time with many functional and aesthetic problems. The proposal addresses the use of the former market hall and the adjacent public space between U Stadionu Street and Kuffner Embankment in Břeclav, preserving the historic form of the building and adding functional elements visually clearly separable from the original structure. According to the city's requirements, the functional use of the hall is a new Municipal Library with additional functions. Adjacent areas are designed with ample green space available for both pedestrian and bicycle circulation.
Underground culture – adaptation of an old brewery in Litovel
Dohnal, Jakub ; Štukheil, Petr (referee) ; Koleček, Ivan (advisor)
Wonders happen behind the wall. The townspeople and people from the surrounding area are curious, so they head out to see what‘s really going on there. They literally find themselves in a new world. Culture flourishes, crafts are revived, stories of books are told and people eager for knowledge are taught. But the big news is that the city‘s beer quenches the thirst of almost every passerby. In addition, a remarkable path passes through the place along the water and trees. Whether one travels there on foot or by bicycle, one sees a wide courtyard with houses that brings a new spirit to Litovel. The site is located on the northern edge of the historic core of Litovel between the remains of the medieval wall and the watercourse of the Dušní Morava. The complex of buildings with a courtyard extends towards the water into B Street. Němcová and closes with its back to the town centre. The individual buildings were built in different time periods, but the most worthy part is the preserved historical cellars of the former municipal brewery. The city currently has no direct use for the area, so we are coming up with ideas and plans for preserving and upgrading the neglected buildings and the entire surrounding area. The starting point for the adaptation proposal is primarily the historical legacy of the local Litovel beer and the local socio-cultural situation. The aim of the work is the transformation of the current situation into a modern centre of culture, art and education. Strengthening the social life with new attractive opportunities for the residents and visitors of Litovel.
