Design and implementation of a module for load testing of HTTPS requests in Apache JMeter
Čížek, Šimon ; Člupek, Vlastimil (referee) ; Šeda, Pavel (advisor)
The Bachelor Thesis focuses on DDoS attacks over the HTTPS protocol and their simulations from a single network interface. Based on the analysis of options for sending requests from spoofed IPv4 and IPv6, a plugin module was developed for Apache JMeter software. Subsequently, module impacts were tested using a created scenario on Nginx and Apache2 test servers. The conclusion presents the results of the generated load on both servers.
Cyber Attacks in JMeter
Klimeš, Jan ; Člupek, Vlastimil (referee) ; Číka, Petr (advisor)
Bachelor thesis deals with the security of computer networks based on TCP/IP protocol stack. The main aim is to create extension modules for application JMeter that add features to the software generate DoS attacks, SYN flood, UDP flood, DNS Server attack and DNS Amplification using applications Trafgen. The theoretical part generally describes cyber attacks, associated with network protocols and application JMeter itself. The practical part contains a description of the graphical interface of the expansion modules, each class which the modules consist of and test results.
Implementation of plugins for JMeter
Švehlák, Milan ; Člupek, Vlastimil (referee) ; Martinásek, Zdeněk (advisor)
This thesis discusses the load testing tool JMeter and its opportunities for expansion by modules carrying out cyber attacks of the type Denial of Service (DoS). To begin with, there is a theoretical overview of cyber attacks of this type. The following chapter, talks about the JMeter tool, namely its functions and expansion options. After that, it is proceeded to the actual design and realization of the modules. The module implementing the attack HTTP Flood is created first. This module uses internal functions of the program JMeter. This new module is tested. Next chapter folows the procedure of creating modules, that use external generator of network traffic. Modules SYN Flood, ICMP Flood and NTP Flood are implemented using the generator Trafgen. Module implementing attack Slowloris uses a Python script as a generator of the attack. Finally, all the new modules are tested.
Traffic generator of industrial protocols
Šnajdr, Václav ; Blažek, Petr (referee) ; Martinásek, Zdeněk (advisor)
This bachelor thesis deals with generating data traffic of industrial SCADA protocols and their implementation into JMeter tool. This tool can be expanded with plugins. Three protocols DNP3, IEC61850 and IEC60870-5 are described in the theoretical part. The practical part is devoted to the design and implementation of the DNP3 protocol module and partly to the design of the IEC61850 protocol. The DNP3 module has been functionally tested. There is also an attempt to obtain the TASE.2 library.
Stress tester
Charvát, Ondřej ; Martinásek, Zdeněk (referee) ; Zeman, Václav (advisor)
The diploma thesis deals with network infrastructure load testing. It’s target is to design and implement a network probe which will be in a form of JMeter plugin one of the components in load tester project. It offers sufficient theoretical basis about load testing, analyzes different types of DoS which can be used to stress the tested infrastructure and also discusses some solutions for load testing realization used in practice. Following is a study of possible ways for realization of the probe with help of several open-source tools. The suitability of individual tools is evaluated from the point of view of the network probe requirements and then the most suitable ones are selected as the basis for it’s implementation. Then, a network probe design is constructed in which it’s functionality is divided into two separated plug-ins, a network probe itself and a server emulator, and the implementation phase is commenced. The implementation is done in Java programming language to allow the new components to use all the neccessary JMeter API functions. The structure of individual parts of the modules as well as many implementation details are analyzed thoroughly in the text. The final chapter of the thesis describes function of the newly created components. After their installation into the load tester the procedure and the results of the functional testing are presented. This thesis describes the whole process of developing a plug-in for JMeter software.
Automated creation of statistics of network traffic
Benedikt, Jan ; Frolka, Jakub (referee) ; Číka, Petr (advisor)
This Bachelor Thesis aims to process and present outcomes of stress testing. The frst chapter depicts basic terms closely connected to stress testing. Second part is concerned with the analysis of possible resolutions and their comparison between each other. The obtained theoretical knowledge is then applied to model sketch for a report, generated in form of the website. The model itself is created in JMeter program and it is written in the Java coding language. The generated website is programed in HTML, CSS and JavaScript languages.
Web application for data transfer using TLS protocol
Dzadíková, Slavomíra ; Slavíček, Karel (referee) ; Smékal, David (advisor)
The work deals with web application development, implementation possibilities of web application, secure communication between server part and client part. Protocol HTTPS (Hyper Text Transfer Protocol) and TLS (Transport Layer Protocol) are described in more detail way, also the issue of PKI (Public Key Infrastructure). The work also covers authentication and authorization methods which are used in web applications, and the most common attacks according OWASP TOP 10. Technologies, programming languages and environments, which have been used: Python, Flask, Bootstrap, OpenSSL, Nginx, Nessus, JMeter, Lighthouse.
Automatic Generation of Load Testing Reports
Oškera, Jakub ; Martinásek, Zdeněk (referee) ; Grabovský, Štěpán (advisor)
The diploma thesis deals with the development of a tool for automated generation of load testing reports, which is implemented in the form of a plug-in into the load tester JMeter as one of its components. The theoretical part contains an analysis of load testing and DDoS parameters, which are the output of a web report. The thesis includes an analysis of available template processors. Based on the analysis of processor’s properties, the most appropriate one was chosen. This processor was then used in a tool that, using the web technologies, generates a report in a form of interactive web page. The thesis also mentions the installation and operation of the created JMeter software plug-in. The diploma thesis describes the whole process of the development of the plug-in.
Stress tester
Lanžhotský, Karel ; Člupek, Vlastimil (referee) ; Zeman, Václav (advisor)
This bachelor thesis deals with the matter of stress testing using open-source tool Apache JMeter and it’s extensions. Main output is the extension of the module which allows to produce DoS (denial of service) attacks. At the beginning of the thesis, there are characteristics for this type of attack, what types of DoS exist with some examples. After that, there’s testing, verification of functionality and finding of errors in extension modules. At the end thesis is dedicated to adding features to DDoS module and testing of capabilities of the attacks on created scenarios.
Stress tester
Shpak, Kyrylo ; Člupek, Vlastimil (referee) ; Zeman, Václav (advisor)
The bachelor thesis deals with the issue of stress testing. The aim of this work is to extend the JMeter tool with amplification modules of DoS attacks. The beginning of the work introduces the issue of DoS attacks, along with a description of selected attacks. One of the points of the work is to verify the functionality and find errors of the stress tester, which is a comprehensive system for testing the information and communication infrastructure based on the JMeter tool. The last chapter deals with the implementation of DoS attacks.
