This thesis deals with the history of steel production focused on the Czech-Moravian Highlands in the 14th – 19th century. The introduction provides a survey of chemical and physical reactions taking place in the steel production. The next chapter focuses on technology of production of raw iron and steel, there are also mentioned raw materials and equipment for their production. The last part deals with the various localities in the Czech-Moravian Highlands in the 14th - 19 century.

This thesis deals with the history of steel as a material used to produce cold weapons. The introduction describes the brief history of steel production since the beginning of the iron to the present. The second part focuses on the technology of production of raw iron and steel and raw materials for their production. The next chapter gives a historical survey of the sword, which was a leading representative of cold weapons and the materials and technologies for its production. The last part of this thesis deals with a Damascus steel as a specific material used for cold weapons.
