The bachelor thesis La Calisto by Giovanni Faustini - Ovid and elements of commedia dell'arte aims to compare the libretto of La Calisto opera with the original story from Ovid's Metamorphoses, which serves as its inspiration. It examines Faustini's authentic portrayal of character personalities and actions, while also highlighting the character typology consistent with the main theatrical genre of seventeenth-century Venice - commedia dell'arte. The thesis aims to familiarize readers with the libretto's story, demonstrate the similarity of the work to the mentioned phenomena, and point out the deviations present in it, which make it authentic.
