Basic haematological parameters and their influencing by pollutants in common carp a review

The objective of this study was to describe the methods of determining the main haematological parameters and obtain as much information as possible about pollutants that may influence them. The subject of this thesis is the common carp (Cyprinus carpio L.). As far as pollutants are concerned, I focused on nitrogen compounds (ammonia, nitrite and cyanide), metals (Zn, Cu, Fe), heavy metals (Hg, Cd, Pb, Cr), petroleum substances, pesticides (organophosphates, triazines and diazines, pyrethroids), pharmaceuticals and natural supplements and persistent organic pollutants. Collected information imply that heavy metals and pesticides have the most important effect on haematological parameters of the common carp. Heavy metals cause changes in haematological parameters and cell anomalies and pesticides may cause haematopoietic failure, which especially means a decrease of number of red blood cells, the concentration of haemoglobin, the haematocrit value and the changes in the presence of different leukocyte forms. This study summarizes the knowledge of the effects of the aforementioned pollutants and highlights the danger of their effect as well as the possible threat to fish health, not just of the common carp. The information dealing with the effects of many pollutants on the blood parameters of fish is missing in available scientific literature.

Language and Style of Jiří Hájíček in the Novel Rybí krev

The aim of this bachelor thesis is to analyse the language in the novel Rybí krev (Fish Blood; 2012) written by Jiří Hájíček. In the theoretical part the functional style of literary language is briefly characterised, with regards to the structure of the text and language. The life and work of Jiří Hájíček are described in the following chapter. The practical part contains the text-analysis itself. The analysis is done on four language levels: phonetic-phonologic, morphologic, syntactic and lexical. The attention is especially paid to the marked phenomena: non-standard, expressive. The comparison is drawn between the language of the characters and the language of the author. The result of the bachelor thesis is the characterisation of Jiří Hájíček's language and style in the novel Fish Blood.

Tolerance of Nile tilapia to nitrites

The aim of this thesis was to evaluate the effect of increased concentrations of nitrite to Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) at different concentrations of chloride. Tilapias adults were exposed for 14 days to nitrite at the concentration of 3 mg.l?1 NO2? (i.e. concentration commonly found in recirculation systems). After 14 days the experimental fishes were divided into 4 group, which differed in concentrations of nitrite and chloride. These groups of fish were held in different conditions for the next seven days. Using standard clinical procedures the following haematologic biochemical parameters were determined: RBC, WBC, Hb, PCV, MetHb, MCV, MCH, MCHC, NO2-, GLU, Ca, Mg, TP, NH3. The tested nitrite concentration was not high enough to cause strong differences of pursued parameters. Only some of them (Hb, MetHb, MCHC) were statistically significant.
