Activities of the Department of literature (Bureau du livre) of French Institute in Prague

The aim of this thesis is to present the French Institute in Prague and to provide as complete an overview of activities of the Book Department, for whom the actions are intended, what is their purpose and method of promotion. The thesis is divided into two parts. The first part introduces the history of the French Institute since the twenties of the 20th century, when there was the greatest expansion, until today. The second part of the thesis devotes directly with the Book Department, which is introduced with a brief history. There is mentioned the library that falls under the Department and processed events which the Department participates or is organized in collaboration with the Institute. For each of the events is processed their history, mission and the period when they were held, including details about the program from 2010 to the present. In the end of thesis is a summary of the contribution of the Book Department to spread French culture in the Czech Republic.
