Comparison of cross-strait relations under the Democratic Progressive Party and after the elections in 2008

The aim of the thesis is to compare the relationship between the People's Republic of China and Taiwan in two consecutive seasons. In the first period from 2000 to 2008, when the Democratic Progressive Party was in power, is Taiwan in constitutional crisis, which has a major impact on mutual relations. Beijing's distrust towards the new president is the cause of the strong cooling of relations especially at the political level. Economic and cultural cooperation is not affected by the political events and develops very positively. After Kuomintang toke over the power after elections in 2008, relations improved rapidly, cooperation between the Kuomintang and the Communist Party of China contributes to that. The dialogue between government agencies for mutual relations is established again, based on the actions of these agencies is concluded many agreements that allow the deepening of cooperation mainly on economic and cultural level. At this time there is a historic improvement in relations.
