Jindřich Vančura and Jaroslav Goll. A short history of an antagonism
Olšáková, Doubravka
D. Olšáková selected the translator of Ernst Denis's works into Czech, Jindřich Vančura, and his role in Czech historiography to be the object of her interest. Ernst Denis strongly opposed Goll's critical historical school having roots in Ranke-based historicism and, on the contrary, stressed philosophical sources of historiography. Jindřich Vančura, a fervent advocate of TGM, stayed in opposition not only to the work of Jaroslav Goll, but also to his personality - in spite of the fact that he belonged to his students too.
