Cyber game for the OpenStack platform
Píš, Patrik ; Holasová, Eva (referee) ; Martinásek, Zdeněk (advisor)
This bachelor's thesis presents matters of penetration testing and ethical hacking with primary focus on binary exploitation. The main goal of this bachelor's thesis was to design and implement a cyber game which focuses on combining various exploitation techniques and presenting them in educative and engaging way. The theoretical part of this thesis concentrates on penetration testing methodology and provides a detailed analysis of a given vulnerability's mechanics and technologies that were crucial for the game's development. Practical part of this thesis consists of a detailed description of the game's design and implementation to OpenStack and cyber arena platforms. Additionally, the practical part of this thesis focuses on development of vulnerable applications, methodology and steps necessary for their successful exploitation. Due to the character of cyber game, a few protection mechanisms were necessary to deploy, and their description takes place in practical part of this bachelor's thesis as well.
Multi-Level Approach to Cybersecurity Education
Lazarov, Willi ; Stodulka, Tomas
This paper addresses challenges in building a cyberrange platform and presents the design, implementation, andtesting of a software platform for cybersecurity education, whichscope ranges from technical universities to high schools. Ourcontribution is a multi-level approach to cybersecurity education, which is applied through extensive testing with students from twodifferent technical universities and high schools.
Automation of Cyber Arena backup and recovery processes in Ansible AWX
Fišarová, Veronika ; Lieskovan, Tomáš (referee) ; Stodůlka, Tomáš (advisor)
The master thesis focuses on the cyber range Cyber Arena and the OpenStack cloud platform, on which the Cyber Arena is built. The theoretical part of the work is dedicated to three essential technologies used in the construction of cyber ranges. These technologies are virtualization, containerization, and cloud computing. In the next part, the analysis focuses on the OpenStack platform and its essence in the Cyber Arena. This is followed by an introduction to the Ansible AWX automation platform, which acts as an intermediary between the Cyber Arena and OpenStack. The last part of the theory is dedicated to the issues of backups and recovery of OpenStack with the aim of improving the life cycle of the Cyber Arena. In the practical part, the creation of a development environment is described, consisting of the OpenStack platform and the AWX platform, in such a way as to best match the environment with the Cyber Arena. In this environment, an Ansible project is then implemented, which automates the creation of backups and subsequent recovery of the main OpenStack services. The project is implemented in such a way that the processes are transferable to new versions of OpenStack while maintaining the same deployment method.
Introduction of Cyber Arena
Stodulka, T. ; Martinasek, Z.
This article describes the current state of a private cyber range named Cyber Arena that is developed by our university. First chapter briefly explains the current problematic and describes the sequence diagram of exemplary communication between the main Cyber Arena components that are OpenStack, ansible AWX, and web-based Training application. Second chapter focuses on Arena architecture and the following chapters briefly explain all mentioned main Arena components.

Start Building Your Own Cyber Range – Cyber Arena
Stodulka, Tomas
The research deals with the importance of education against cyber crimes in today’s world. One of the solutions is through so-called cyber ranges. First two chapters briefly explain the currentproblematic and present some representatives of cyber ranges. The work continues by stress testingof the selected cloud computing platform that is the most suitable for cyber range purposes. Based onthe results, servers/devices are purchased, which form the basis of the future Cyber Arena in BUT
