In an Apartment in a small town, Mikulov
Solár, Michal ; Kozelský, Tomáš (referee) ; Hora, Jan (advisor)
The concept is based on the historical development of the plot and the city as such. Historically, the area has been defined by self-help and without clearly specified dogmatic guidelines. It is thanks to this that the city is enriched with moments that do not fulfill only the aesthetic or spiritual, but also the functional nature of the city. The moment of surprise and certain visas enriches the interior of the yard as well as the city. At first glance, such annoying spaces have a certain quality, caused by the play of light or the overall concept of space. An important feature of the object is the moment of surprise from the perceived space. The transition from a clearly defined ground floor to the rear, at first glance, irrational courtyard is enhanced by a passage, which also refers to the typical division of the small town house. ARCHITECTURAL SOLUTION The principle of layering of individual spaces clearly reflects the moments of surprise. By specific fragmentation of the building, a character that resembles rather a family house as a residential object, spaces of different quality and utilization are created. The lower dwellings have a spatially and optically separated garden from the total mass, with the top terrace being terraces which are optically linked to the courtyard, but are not accessible to the public. The apartments in the attic have mostly urban character. This creates the principle of co-existence, which is typical of the whole area of the city. The layering is evident in the distribution of flats with different connections to gardens and terraces as well as the variety of housing units. The spirit of the place is a standing cellar that reflects the historical transformation of the parcel and is a symbol of the locality.

Multipurpose Town House on Křížová Street, Brno
Doležalová, Iveta ; Mutina, Petr (referee) ; Sochor, Jan (advisor)
The plot is located in Old Brno, in places with rich history, work continues on the analysis from previous semesters. The site has a particularly strong character, supported by well-preserved courtyards with galleries. This arrangement is now a feature space. Closed courts - or semi-private, where they can (to some extent) - the function of housing mixed with other municipal activities and promote the vitality of the house. This work also builds on the solution Mendel Square from previous semester and support the approach taken to assist the courts, courtyards and courtyard for a given location. The block in which the plot is (blank space) is due to the planned puncture Ypsilantiho significant changes will come primarily throughout the eastern part. Together with our Western or 2 vacant lot will be completely free of the block. There is therefore a greater possibility of intervention, links, thinking about this task as a whole. The inspiration for the character building and way of life for a given site, I propose the installation of smaller flats, starter, student, housing for individuals. These apartments will offer common areas, places where people meet. I choose residence as a gallery space houses .... the courts to extend the vertical direction. I propose a system of yards through the entire block, the courts are connected to a central semi-public communication, which is rarely allowed to enter cars. Courts alternate, semi-public courts are the place to galleries and access to the apartment, the living room. Other courts are "green" - private - where there is access only to residents. The courts are quiet-oriented sleeping porches on the kitchen window, so that has galleries with natural living space.
Architecture and Art
Hrončeková, Barbora ; Hybská, Bohumila (referee) ; Hora, Jan (advisor)
The design of City Gallery in Litomyšl reacts to the viewpoints of the city’s structure with the number of volume in various heights. The volume of the building is divided into 5 units with different height levels. The main principle is the connection of urban spaces, whether in the form of terraces, which are accessible to the public and connected by exterior staircases or in the form of volumes. Volumes tactically change their height based on the purpose and filling of a given volume, the phase of passage from one elevation to another, or the desired expression. They recede and create semi-public terraces and courtyard, ascend or protrude and form dominants. At the point of direct vision from the square, the mass of the highest floor recedes, and thus does not disturb the desired expression of the church.
The Restoration of the Former Zlín County Court
Gebhardt, Tomáš ; Blažková, Vendula (referee) ; Myslín, Jiří (advisor) ; Daněk, Lukáš (advisor)
This bachelor thesis deals with the former court building in Zlín. It is the second oldest structure in the city, situated at the crossroads of the streets Bartošova and Soudní, next to a park. It is not only located in the geographical center of the city, but also the at the confluence of the most frequented routes leading to shopping centers, transportation hubs, university buildings, etc. Unfortunately, the building intersects the park and interrupts its clear boundaries. The vicinity is abundant with public spaces, which, aside from Gahura’s prospect, are mostly unpopular, thanks to their unsuitable design and absence of necessary facilities. The design attempts to turn the building into a facility of the park – a café, public toilets and an interesting public space. The park’s boundaries are sealed with the new building of an open-air cinema. The corner of the streets is improved by the much-needed parterre, including a new lawn which creates a natural border of the park. This space is also used as an entrance to the underground parking lot and the main entrance to the open-air cinema. Further, there is a new cube-shaped four-storey extension to the building which contains a new staircase and necessary sanitation rooms. The extension is designed so that it doesn’t undermine the dominance of the court building itself, and presents itself in an inferior manner. The design keeps in mind the original façade and expression of the building, including the shape and slope of the roofs. The parking lot is moved from in front of the building under the new open-air cinema, to clear up the parterre and make it more representative.
