Counterfeiting of money as part of the shadow economy

This bachelor thesis focuses on the issue of counterfeiting, especially in the Czech Republic, eurozone and some other selected countries. The first part of this study, include introduction to the historical and legal framework, explores the process of making counterfeit banknotes and real banknotes, including current statistics of its quantity and the overall trend. Furthermore, I deal with the question of fight against this issue in terms of national and multinational institutions. The second part analyzes the economic models that address the issue of counterfeiting. These models are used by knowledge from game theory and costbenefit analysis. The main purpose of this work is to explore this issue including its impacts and comparison of approaches of various countries.
Counterfeiting of Money

The thesis is divided into six chapters. It focuses on the history of money and counterfeiting, describes different legislation dealing with counterfeiting. In detail, the thesis deals with the Czech legislation according to the current and prospective penal code. The fourth chapter is dedicated to the anti-counterfeiting features on current Czech bills and coins. The fifth chapter describes counterfeiters and counterfeits and the last chapter is dedicated to the interesting Czech adjudications in this field.
