Poverty and social exclusion: an ethical challenge for the Czech society
KOLÁŘOVÁ, Lucie
The thesis deals with the role of the state and society in their attitudes to poverty and social exclusion. The introductory part aims at characterising the phenomenon of poverty and social exclusion, and deals with the issue of how the society perceives poverty. It focuses on the concept of the culture of poverty, and attention is given to the need of solidarity, social justice and the social state. The following part of my thesis deals with the extent of poverty and social exclusion in the Czech Republic, as well as possibilities of a social safety net in the Czech Republic. It describes particular examples of the manifestation of social exclusion and poverty in the Czech society, especially in the sphere of housing, opportunities in the labour market and falling into destructive debts. It sheds light on the situation of Romanies as the worst affected population group. The current situation in the Czech Republic shows that the attitude of the society to poverty as a personal fault and failure, impedes mutual solidarity, and generates strategies connected with repression that fail to understand the causes of poverty. For this reason, they cannot be adequately efficient. The society should react to, consider and efficiently solve poverty-related problems. Inspiration may be found in Christian ethics and its concept of human dignity.
Should the Life Be Given Exclusively in Marriage?
BÁRTOVÁ, Petra
This thesis deals with topical trend of progeniture out of marriage. It describes the evolution of Christian ethic´s view on this problem and reflects it in present Czech reality. It highlights the fact that present young Czechs agree that the life should be given in marriage. It´s only their generally promulgated position which is not done by noticeable part of them in final consequences. From that contradiction between declared ideal and reality, this thesis offers some possible realistic way-outs. First of all, it is the emphasized actuating on pro-familiar values development by means of education, the need of change of the social system - the present one makes it advantageous for non-married couples against married families and finally the requirement of married couples´ testimony confirming advantages of the institution of marriage.
IS IT POSSIBLE TO LIVE THE IDEAL OF NASARETH FAMILY?
HOLKUP, Petr
The work deals with philosophical and theological consideration of marriage as the natural institution. It comes out of the implied hypothesis of inherent ideals of love, failthfullness and inseparability, whose fulfillment man often searches in marriage. The theoretical part describes marriage and family from the point of view of the Christian ethics. It characterizes the sacramental and the non-sacramental marriages, looks for common ideas and points out their differences. It touches also the problems of contemporary families e.g. abortion, fertility and divorce rate. The practical part includes the results of the survey among the present-day young people about their ideals of Christian marriage. Then it analyses the birth registry entries for the period of 1993{--}1998 in Pelhřimov and its surroundings and compares the church marriages to the civil ones from the point of view of their divorce rate and the number of the children born in these marriages. The conclusion of the work evaluates the results of the practical part, compares it with the countrywide surveys and answers the introductory question of this work: if is possible to live the ideal of Nasareth family.

Ethical Perspectives on Marriage
JELÍNKOVÁ, Eva
The work analyzes marriage from ethical perspective, in particular from the Christian ethical perspective. It highlights changes in understanding of fidelity and indissolubility of marriage in biblical and Christian tradition. Current attitudes within the Czech society towards marriage are confirmed by empirical research. This research points to an ongoing transformation of how marriage and family life have been understood {--} starting with the traditional views and ending with the modern views on marriage, family, and unfaithfulness in marriage. The main part of my work deals with the question of fidelity in marriage {--} whether it remains an undisputable value in today{\crq}s society, or it is rather only a nonproduktive ``Christian ideal.{\crq}q Important question we face today is how to promote the value of married life. From the perspective of an individual, parental education is of utmost importance. From the perspective of social ethics, schools and mass media should be encouraged to promote the positive elements of married life and fidelity in marriage as well as.
