Vaněček, Lukáš ; Vaněk, Jiří (referee) ; Bača, Petr (advisor)
This master‘s thesis contains a comprehensive laboratory task about saving a heat energy with a use of changing a state of matter. The thesis is written for the object Chosen passages of renewable resources and saving a heat energy. Part one presents a theoretical part of the topic, terminology and relations needed to make this laboratory work. It also contains a created procedure of partial tasks necessary to take laboratory measurements. The second part of the thesis is about measuring and evaluation of acquired values according to procedure described in the theoretical part of the thesis. Different variations considered during the creation of measuring procedure are also named here. The final part of the thesis describes a laboratory equipment necessary to complete the task and an example of filled protocol is attached.
Burning pellets from non-wood biomass in boilers II
Linda, Matúš ; Baláš, Marek (referee) ; Zejda, Vojtěch (advisor)
Bachelor thesis is divided into four main chapters. The first chapter deals with issue of combustion of agropellets in boilers. This section specifies types of pellets, their production and problems of combustion in boilers associated with formation of emissions. The second chapter specifies valid legislation and emissions limits. The third chapter describes fuel analysis of agropellets samples. This includes an analysis in order to determine the properties and chemical composition of agropellets resulting in determination of gross heat and calorific value. The fourth chapter evaluates agropellets influence on boilers and emissions creation on the basis of data and knowledge. The results are compared with data of other commonly used solid fuel found in literature sources.
Design and verification of a thermodynamic sensor with a focus on high sensitivity
Staroštík, Petr ; Jankovský, Jaroslav (referee) ; Otáhal, Alexandr (advisor)
This work deals with the issue of using bolometers, calorimeters a thermo-dynamic sensor in measuring temperature and heat. In the case of bolometers and microcalorimeters are described their properties and limit parameters. The work focuses more closely on the construction of a thermodynamic sensor from discrete components with a focus on achieving high sensitivity. The sensitivity of the thermodynamic sensor was measured in an experiment with a defined heat change and evaluated. Using this experiment was set the measurement methodology, which was subsequently modified. As part of the bachelor's thesis was designed a new sensor for a thermodynamic sensor and was measured its sensitivity.
Temperature changes in different designs of lead-acid batteries
Langer, Martin ; Libich, Jiří (referee) ; Bača, Petr (advisor)
This diploma thesis deals with lead accumulators, the possibilities of their division and the basic reactions that take place inside taking into account the design features of individual types. Both exothermic and endothermic reactions taking place at the electrode-electrolyte interface, as well as the heating of the accumulator caused by Joule losses on its internal resistance, are then discussed in more detail. However, the charging reaction is also accompanied by other internal processes of the accumulator, which are related to electrolysis, recombination of water and polarization resistance. A calorimeter made of expanded polystyrene and a measuring center with external temperature sensors are used to quantify the degree of causation of temperature changes of individual processes. In the thesis, the rate of heat loss through the walls of the calorimeter is subsequently evaluated and used to calculate the total thermal energy during cycling.
Design of a calorimeter to characterize the properties of commercial batteries
Gavalierová, Veronika ; Šedina, Martin (referee) ; Kazda, Tomáš (advisor)
This thesis is focused on the study of the heat capacity of Li-ion cells. The theoretical part contains the basic issues of the technology, basic concepts, and knowledge. The next chapter, the practical part, is devoted to the practical measurement of the specific heat capacity of batteries, using a calorimeter. Various types of batteries were investigated, and a larger calorimeter was also constructed and described. This bulkier calorimeter was used for a larger pouch cell.
Reconstruction of the Higgs boson decay into two photons for Future Circular Collider (FCC)
Petrů, Tadeáš ; Faltová, Jana (advisor) ; Petukhova, Krystsina (referee)
It is now high time to plan projects at the CERN laboratory for the time after the physics programme of the HL-LHC collider is over. One of the option is a nearly 100 km long collider with centre-of-mass energies up to 100 TeV in Geneva area - Future Circular Collider (FCC). A proton-proton collider called FCC-hh is the main part of the project. The design of the detector for the FCC-hh experiment is one of the challenges. Our group is involved in the studies of the electromagnetic calorimeter for this project. The student will learn the concept of the proposed calorimeter. The goal of the thesis is a reconstruction of the Higgs boson decay into two photons and a study of the influence of the coincident collisions on the Higgs boson mass peak resolution. 1
Energy calibration of pions for the Future Circular Collider (FCC)
Nováčková, Anežka ; Faltová, Jana (advisor) ; Sýkora, Martin (referee)
Future Circular Collider (FCC) is a planned collider of the European Organization for Nuclear Research CERN. This collider with a circumference of almost 100 km will reach centre-of-mass energies of the order of 100 TeV. This thesis examines the system of calorimeters for the experiment FCC-hh (proton-proton collision). In order to be able to measure the true energy that particles leave in calorimeters, it is necessary to calibrate the system. For that reason is used a simulation of passage of pion showers through calorimeters and its analysis.

Response of the ATLAS Tile Calorimeter
Adámek, Tomáš ; Davídek, Tomáš (advisor) ; Faltová, Jana (referee)
TileCal is the Hadronic calorimeter covering the most central region of the ATLAS experiment which is one of the four major experiments at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) at CERN. Main area of interest of this bachelor thesis is to examine the energy response and resolution of tested modules to electrons. Furthermore, the goal of this work is to make correction to the energy response with respect to the periodic structure of TileCal's cell.
