The Czech-German relations in České Budějovice in 1918-1922 from the point of view of local German newspapers published in České Budějovice

This study is an initial attempt to closely describe the post-war occurrences in České Budějovice in 19181922 from the point of view of Germanic newspapers Budweiser Zeitung and Budweiser Kreisblatt, published in České Budějovice. The primary purpose of this paper is to aim and observe the political situation in the town, especially the birth of independent Czechoslovakia, the changes in religion situation, and even in the education system. This thesis is mainly based on the research of period German newspapers and literature, and the information acquired from these resources were compared with the data in specialized historic literature. The goal of this study is to summarize the most important events, which influenced the history of České Budějovice on account of German population of the town and also affected Czech-German relations in České Budějovice.
Czech-German relationships in České Budějovice in 1914-1918 in light of german press in České Budějovice

This bachelor thesis deals with the analysis of two leading German-language newspaper based in the territory of České Budějovice in the period of the World War I, namely Budweiser Zeitung and Budweiser Zeitung Kreisblatt. The main objective of the thesis was to find out what the press paid attention to during the war period, how it was affected by this event and how it wrote about the relationship of two major cultures - if you like - about Czechs and Germans. For the thesis preparation printed matters stored in the State Regional Archives in České Budějovice have been used. The Bachelor thesis is divided into three main chapters. The first chapter focuses on describing the situation in České Budějovice, its formation, referring to associations established in the territory within a specified period, including a clarification of the political situation. The second chapter deals with the selected German written press and the third chapter deals with the very newspaper production, whereas it is further divided into individual years and it separately describes the view of Budweiser Zeitung and the view of Budweiser Kreisblatt.
Reflection of Czech-German relations in the regional periodicals in the thirties of the 20th century

This bachelor thesis will focus on Czech-German relations in České Budějovice region in the thirties of the 20th century. They will be observed in both the nationwide trends and regional specificities. The theoretical part will be focused on the genesis of the coexistence of Czechs and Germans till the late thirties of the 20 century, not only in social and political context of Czechoslovakia but also of neighboring Germany and its internal policies (the period of so-called Weimar Republic and Third Reich). Increased emphasis will be devoted to the naming and characterization of the major aspects of mutual ethnic antagonism. In this chapter there will also be a characteristic of České Budějovice in terms of mutual coexistence of Czech and German population and the definition of its local differences within the national development. Practical part will be devoted to a comparison of two regional periodicals, Jihočeské listy and Budweiser Zeitung, according to precisely specified political and cultural topics and categories that characterized the changes in mutual co-existence the best
