Israeli-U.S. relations are an important factor in the Middle East. The first part of this bachelor thesis deals with the relation between the United States of America and Israel since the very beginning. The special partnership has evolved from an initial moral sympathy to an unusual and unparalleled partnership. In the second part, I try to describe the most important causes of U.S. support for Israel (such as the political clout of Jewish lobby in the U.S., American security interests in the Middle East, religious influence...). The main vehicle for expressing this support has been unprecedented economic, military and diplomatic support.

The Clinton's administration in the Middle East peace process

The aim of the bachelor thesis is to sum up the role of the Clinton's administration in the Middle East peace process and its contribution to international relations. First chapter includes the history of American involvement in the Arabic-Israeli conflict during the whole Cold-War period. The second chapter is focused on the Clinton's administration itself and the serries of activities in the Middle East that were undertaken during both Clinton's electoral terms. The third chapter is directed to asses particular Clinton's terms, their mutual comparison as well as the comprehensive analysis of the administration's role in peace negotiations.

Operace Lité olovo a její mezinárodní souvislosti

My thesis are firstly concerning the historical development of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict in order to be able evaluate properly the Operation Cast Lead, its effects and impact on the further evolution of the Palestinian-Israeli relations. In this part, I focus on the preferable forms of the conflict solution (two-state solution, bi-national/one-state solution, three states solution with independent state of Israel, Gaza annexed to Egypt and the West Bank in federation with Jordan, or possible economic peace). Besides that, I pay attention to the international actors who were involved in the conflict (solution). Afterwards, I am describing the Operation in detail, its flow and impact on the positioning of other countries and international society as whole towards the conflict. As the end, I am offering my proposal of conflict resolution with its positives and strengths, at the same time I am demonstrating the disadvantages and critics of other possible solutions. Moreover, I am suggesting the criteria for the choice of potential mediators (after the historical evaluation). As conclusion, I argue, that the operation targeted at getting rid of the terrorist leaders is not sustainable solution to this conflict and therefore it is necessary to look deeper for long-term solutions leading to the peace on the Middle East.

EU's Role in the Middle East Peace Process and Comparison with Other Significant Participants

The topic of this thesis is the question of EU's involvement in the resolution of the Middle East conflict (in a narrower sense the conflict between Israel and the Palestinians) and the survey of common positions and differences of the EU and other significant participants (especially the USA and the USSR/Russia). The ultimate objective is to assess the contribution and role of the EU in the whole process based on its analysis. The first part of the thesis outlines the evolution of the Middle East conflict from the creation of the State of Israel up to the present (May 2008), the second part deals with the analysis of West European states' and EU's approach towards the Peace Process and the the third part contains a comparison of the EU's positions with selected key participants (the USA and the USSR/Russia).

Táto práca skúma vplyv globálnych masmédií na tvorbu medzinárodnej politiky počas vybraných konfliktov na Blízkom východe. Zameriava sa konkrétne na vojnu v Perzskom zálive a vojnu v Iraku. Jej hlavným cieľom je analýza, do akej miery môžu masmédiá ovplyvňovať proces tvorby medzinárodnej politiky resp. byť v nej využívané ako nástroj jej hlavných aktérov. Zhodnocuje, že masmédiá hrajú v medzinárodnej politike významnú úlohu ako nástroj propagandy. V budúcnosti sa stanú masmédiá kľúčovým faktorom pri zaisťovaní informačnej dominancie v nových konfliktoch. Masmédiá na Blízkom východe majú, ale zároveň potenciál stať sa nástrojom budovania demokracie.

Economic Development Potential of The Palestinian Refugee Camps in The Political Context of The Middle East Region

Diplomová práce analyzuje socio-ekonomické ukazatele týkající se palestinských uprchlických táborů a na jejich základě indentifikuje způsoby zvýšení jejich ekonomické výkonnosti. Práce rozlišuje palestinské uprchlické tábory na základě jejich geografické polohy v regionu Blízkého východu a jejich správního postavení v dané hostitelské zemi, neboť to jsou základní faktory určující jejich ekonomickou situaci. Při analýze ekonomického potenciálu palestinských uprchlických táborů se práce zaměřuje na metody splňující požadavky trvale udržitelného rozvoje, které je možné aplikovat v konfliktních regionech Blízkého východu.

Práce analyzuje vývoj vztahů Francie a zemí Blízkého východu s největším zaměřením na Stát Izrael a izraelsko-palestinskou otázku.Úvodní kapitola se věnuje nástinu postavení židovské a arabské menšiny ve Francii a jejich vlivu na utváření francouzské zahraniční politiky . Dále je práce rozdělena na čtyři kapitoly podle důležitých historických období, ve kterých je možno vysledovat odlišné tendence ve francouzské blízkovýchodní politice.
