The potential of biofuels for modern internal combustion engines
Matyáš, Milan ; Bazala, Jiří (referee) ; Beran, Martin (advisor)
The aim of the bachelor thesis is to map the potential use of biofuels for modern piston internal combustion engines. The thesis deals with both reducing the environmental impact and a possible increase in performance parameters and engine efficiency such as the use of fuel with increased anti-knock resistance in spark ignition engines.
Alternative Drive of Automobile
Novosád, Jan ; Kloss, Ondřej (referee) ; Kaplan, Zdeněk (advisor)
In this work is processed a survey of perspective alternative drives in motor vehicles. There are main characteristic for each mentioned drive, their advantages and disadvantages and problems associated with their use in vehicles. The work is aimed at gas engines, electro mobiles, hybrid drives and hydrogen, therefore the most likely drives the future.
Bioetanol and Drive of Automobile
Smeták, Pavel ; Kloss, Ondřej (referee) ; Kaplan, Zdeněk (advisor)
Content of my diploma thesis focuses on identification of properties and usability of nascent fuel for automotive use. It is a bio-ethanol which can be produced from renewable sources. The heart of this work is to develop methodology of experimental trials in connection with utilization of bio-ethanol E85 as a fuel for vehicle combustion engines. The aim is to perform tests with E85 and BA95 fuels in engine testing room of ÚADI FSI, to compare these trials amongst themselves and to analyze obtained results. Subsequent part of diploma thesis covers overview of general usage of bio-ethanol in road transportation.
Synthetic fuels
Pitoňák, Adam ; Kučera, Pavel (referee) ; Píštěk, Václav (advisor)
The bachelor’s thesis on the topic “Synthetic fuels” aims to introduce the reader to the issue of synthetic fuels and the possibilities of their application for internal combustion engines as alternatives to the conventional fuels derived from fossil sources. The first part of the work is focused on the introduction and division of synthetic fuels according to primary raw material. Subsequently, the properties of the fuels are compared with commonly used fossil fuels. The thesis also deals with the comparison of the equivalents of the emissions of individual synthetic fuels per unit of thermal energy supplied to the engine. Thanks to the model presented in the thesis, it is possible to compare the amount of CO2 equivalent per driven kilometre. The conclusion of this work summarizes the result of the comparison of synthetic fuels with prospects of such fuel in the future.
Technologies for energy use of biomass
Záviška, Radek ; Škvařil, Jan (referee) ; Moskalík, Jiří (advisor)
The objective of this work is developing retrieval technology of biomass energy. In the introductory part of the work deals with the definition of biomass, including ways of producing machines for the production and transportation. The main part of the thesis deals with the technology converts raw biomass into valuable energy products. Processing takes place in a straightforward manner the thermal and electrical energy or biomass is indirectly evaluates the products of higher quality, which further downstream processing operations. The indirect processes occur valuable usable energy output in transport, buildings, agriculture and many other industries.
Properties measurement of solid fuels
Blabla, Ondřej ; Štelcl, Otakar (referee) ; Moskalík, Jiří (advisor)
The bachelor thesis deals with the properties measurement of solid fuels. The theoretical part deals with the basic division of solid fuels with a focus on biomass and the subsequent dismantling of various methods for measuring energy characteristics. In the practical part, the basic methods will be laboratory tested and described.
CO2 reduction with algae
Naider, Jakub ; Rebej, Miroslav (referee) ; Vondál, Jiří (advisor)
The aim of this final thesis is the process of algae cultivation their use for carbon dioxid reduction. The main objective of this work is the mass and heat balance of the photobioreactor and the design of a temperature control system. Within the research work, an overview of certain types of bioreactors and photobioreactors, the current situation around the climate and the impact of the cultivation of algae on carbon dioxide emissions. The model for temperature control and mass transfer of a plate photobioreactor is created in this work.
Hemp as an alternative fuel
Jaworská, Petra ; Zejda, Vojtěch (referee) ; Hudák, Igor (advisor)
Bachelor thesis as literary research deals with possibilities of using hemp as an energy crop and its development and sustainability in the future. Production of hemp bio-fuels in Czech Republic is in the beginning but increasing interest in alternative energy sources presumes development in this branch. Producing bio-fuels made of hemp biomass brings many positive benefits in liquid, gas or solid states. Liquid biodiesel made of hemp presents alternative source of energy that can be used in common diesel engines. Hemp hurds briquettes are the most used hemp fuel in our country. Hemp briquettes has perfect properties in comparison to other sources. High heat of combustion, low purchase price and environmental friendliness gives motivation to create new growing branches. Second most common use is biogas fuel. Biogas is produced in usual biofermenter using hemp biomass often with admixture of slurry. Hemp biogas properties are also very satisfactory. In Czech Republic is huge potential in development and production of hemp biogas due to large number of biogas plants. Despite financially demanding processing of the hemp biomass the amount of biomass grow during one year makes this plant one of the most profitable alternative source for production of bio-fuels.
Methods for determining the properties
Lainka, Pavel ; Špiláček, Michal (referee) ; Hrnčířová, Michaela (advisor)
In this work are elaborated methods for determining the properties of the biomass, which is nowadays a few. Procedures for determining the properties are described by individual standards. Each property has its own standard which accurately describes the procedure for the determination of this property. The introduction describes the general concept of biomass, formation of biomass and its distribution. In the next part of the thesis describes the different properties of biomass. Among the most important features include biomass moisture content, calorific value and ash content, which is determined by gross analysis. These properties are in the conclusion experimentally measured, as described in the standards for some types of biomass.
Reducing CO2 Emission in Air Transport
Fričová, Barbora ; Šplíchal, Miroslav (referee) ; Kaddour, Mirvat (advisor)
Reducing CO2 emission in air transport is the main theme of this master´s thesis. As the public interest in aviation and climate change is world´s growing it could be consider as a hot topic. As a response to public interest was the creation of contracts, standards and limits of carbon dioxide emissions. The master´s thesis is divided into several parts. The first is mapping of global air traffic and carbon dioxide emissions. The second part deals with European approach to solving problems of reducing CO2 emissions follows by description of ICAO Aeroplane CO2 emissions standard. The part of the thesis is the overview of the use of biofuels in aviation and their price. The conclusion summarizes all knowledge learned while working on this thesis.
