Votava, Adam ; Klokočková, Šárka (advisor) ; Zámečníková, Kateřina (referee)
Preoperative and postoperative care in cardiac surgery from the patient's point of view - Adam Votava ABSTRACT The bachelor's thesis "Preoperative and postoperative care in cardiac surgery from the patient's point of view" investigated, evaluated and compared the views of patients who underwent cardiac surgery on the health care provided. The aim of the work was to map problematic areas in the provided information on the course of planned care and other areas connected with this topic. In the theoretical part of the thesis, the field of cardiac surgery itself, the process of hospitalization in the cardiac surgery department and specific information about the surgical procedure that the interviewees went through were presented. She also dealt with the role of the patient in healthcare. It presents the legal and ethical aspects of the patient in the Czech Republic and explained the factors affecting the patient's access to the provided health care. In conclusion, this section explains the need for information and possible resources that the cardiac surgery patient can use to his advantage. The empirical part contains the results of our own exploratory investigation and a comparison of the results with the results of other similar works. Method: Qualitative research - semi-structured interview. Results: Eight...
Support of the patients indicated for coronary artery bypass graft surgery
KALVASOVÁ, Eliška
The bachelor thesis deals with the support of patients indicated for coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) surgery and their satisfaction with it. Psychological support of patients played an important role in preventing complications and therefore it was important to focus on the patient as a holistic human being. The objective of this bachelor thesis was to find out the method of patient education; to map the knowledge of healthy lifestyle, non-adherence to which led to indication of coronary artery bypass graft surgery; and to find out the level of mental support of patients indicated for coronary artery bypass graft surgery. To achieve these objectives, a qualitative investigation method was used, where data was further collected through semi-structured interviews with patients after coronary artery bypass graft surgery. A total of 10 patients were interviewed just after this procedure. The result of the research investigation which indicated that patients had not enough information regarding a healthy lifestyle, non-adherence to which led to the indication of coronary artery bypass graft surgery. Another shortcoming resulting from our research was the fact that patients had not have enough psychological support before the procedure, despite the fact that it was so important for physical health. However, the patient education by medical staff was satisfactory in our research. The research showed that the staff provided sufficient and good quality education in verbal as well as demonstrative form. The information booklet for patients undergoing cardiac surgery, which they all received before the procedure, was very positively evaluated by the patients as part of the education. According to the results, it was recommended that it would be appropriate to appeal to the necessity and need to offer psychological support to patients during their hospitalization as part of staff training.

Bachelor thesis on topic Nursing care of a patient with ischemic heart disease after combined cardiac surgical operation with following complications, dealt with the specificity of nursing care of the patient, firstly after combined cardiac surgical operation and subsequently also after rehospitalisation for mediastinitis and infectious endocarditis on the heart valves. In theoretical part I analyze drawn knowledge, related to mentioned issue. Used information were obtained from professional literature, Czech and foreign articles according to recommended practices of the European Cardiology Society. The main objective of the thesis is summary and elaboration of patient's data in longer period of time into two case studies. In Case study I., I focus mainly on detailed description of nursing care after the cardiac surgical operation during three days, when the patient was transfered to intensive care unit. In Case study II., I include collected information of the same patient after rehospitalisation with infectious complications, which I evaluate in detail during the three days hospitalization on intensive care unit. My other objectives include finding out, if there are any differences in provided nursing care between two mentioned Case studies. At the end, I would like to point out the highly...

Vital capacity of lungs after operation hearts IKEM Prague
CHVOJKOVÁ, Lenka
Cardiovascular diseases in the Czech Republic represent the main cause of death and significantly contribute to the sickness rate and premature disability. Possibilities of treatment of cardiovascular diseases keep developing increasingly these days. An important part is the follow up spa treatment as well as sufficiently performed effective cardio rehabilitation. The theoretical part characterizes functional examination of the lungs and stress tests in cardiology. Simultaneously it describes early spa treatment and defines quality of life. The aim of the diploma thesis, which deals with the vital capacity of the lungs, was to prove positive effect of early spa treatment on the vital capacity of the lungs and on improvement of quality of life, specifically with respect to positive perception of one´s overall physical health. Hypotheses - H1: An early spa therapy positively affects spirometry values. H2: Patients with an early spa therapy better perceive their overall physical health. A form of quantitative research was chosen, in order to verify the determined aims and hypotheses of the diploma thesis. A standardized international Short Form SF - 36 questionnaires on quality of life was used for the data collection. Spirometry was utilized for ascertaining objective functional parameters. Values of spirometry examination were used for comparison. 32 patients after cardiovascular surgery were included in the research, who were transferred to Lázně Poděbrady on the 6th - 8th day after the surgery, 22 of them being men (69%) and 10 women (31 %). The average age of patients under research was 66,06 + 11,48 years. The check group consisted of 10 healthy volunteers. 8 women (80 %) and 2 men (20 %) at the average age of 37,1 + 13,3 years were included in the research. It follows from the spirometry results measured before the heart surgery at IKEM cardio center that a difference in results between the second and third spirometry occurred. The second and third spirometrical examination is the period of time, when the respondent undergoes the early spa treatment. After the heart surgery spirometry values worsen and improve in the course of the spa therapy. The research showed that the perception of overall physical health after the heart surgery is subject to perception of pain, which negatively affected sense of overall perception of physical health. H1 was confirmed and H2 was not confirmed. In order to improve current situation, it would be suitable to devote not only to cardio rehabilitation but also to improvement of perception of pain, e.g. by means of psychotherapy (art therapy, music therapy?). It is also important to widen a possibility of outpatient cardio rehabilitation in each cardio center for patients after heart surgery.
