BARTOŇOVÁ, Tereza
The bachelor thesis "Who watches the watchmen?" The role of (super) heroes in the comic books of Alan Moore is engaged in analysis of books of Alan Moore, a prominent comic-book writer, his specific production and its impact on the evolution of comic genre. The thesis is divided into three chapters. In the first chapter I have tried to approach the basic terms and outline the function of the comics narration. The second and third chapters contain detailed analysis of particular Alan Moore´s comic books. In the second chapter is the chronological survey of Moore?s production that is also divided into parts according to changes in author?s style. There are also descriptions and defined classic comic-book superheros in this chapter and put in antithesis to Moore?s first two books: Killing Joke and Superman: What Happened to the Man of Tomorrow?. The particular motifs connecting his works are mentioned in the third chapter. The outcome of the thesis contains a summary of my opinions, the motifs common for the books of Alan Moore and emphasis of his importance in the comic genre evolution.
