(in English): This Bachelor's Thesis examines the Puerto Rican Spanish vocabulary, which contains a large number of typical features, generally applicable to American Spanish (on a lexical level). A brief overview of the history of the country is also included, as each historical period has had some impact on its language. The paper then describes the theoretical background of every typical feature of the Puerto Rican lexicon, especially its origin or definition. This is followed by a practically focused part, in which specific examples for each aspect in vocabulary. From this chapter conclusions are then drawn summarizing the most important findings of the examined lexical features. The last described area is the situation of English on the island and the presence of Puerto Rican Spanish in the United States. I focused on the specific case of the interaction of both official languages, thus involving the use of anglicisms and Spanglish speech. In conclusion, I have tried to show, inter alia, the basis for the future development of this issue in Puerto Rico.

Spanish gerund and its Czech equivalents
Vavroušová, Petra ; Čermák, Petr (advisor) ; Zavadil, Bohumil (referee)
The purpose of this thesis was to analyse the Spanish gerund and its Czech equivalents. The thesis is divided into two parts: the theoretical one and the empirical one. We mainly drew from Spanish grammar books and Czech linguistic works. The gerund and its translation equivalents were compiled from the parallel Czech-Spanish corpus InterCorp. The excerpts were analysed from the linguistic point of view in order to provide a contrastive description of the Spanish gerund and its Czech equivalent expressions. The objective of the study was to describe the different types of Czech translation equivalents and their frequency. The results of the study also reveal that translation of the Spanish gerund into Czech is closely related to the conversion of the analytic language structure into the syntactic one. Therefore, some of the specific characteristics of translation of the gerund into Czech might be assigned to the concurrence of two typologically different languages.

The aim of this thesis is to describe the form and the meaning of Spanish conditional sentences. The thesis consists of theoretical and practical part. In the theoretical part we define basic terms and introduce 3 types of conditional sentences. We also try to clarify the use of the verbal modes and tenses and to describe what they express from the semantic point of view. Then we describe the use of non-normative forms of conditional sentences and we focuse on the non-normative use of the conditional instead of the subjunctive. The theoretical part is followed by the practical part, in which we analyse conditional conjunctions via parallel language corpus InterCorp. The aim of this analysis is to characterize chosen conditional conjunctions from their specific and practical point of view. The category of mood in nominal clauses in contemporary Spanish
Tomeš, Jan ; Čermák, Petr (advisor) ; Kratochvílová, Dana (referee)
KEY WORDS subjunctive, nominal clauses, Spanish, Czech, norm, usage ! ABSTRACT Many works and studies have been dedicated to the usage of indicative and subjuntive in Spanish. It still remains a wildly discussed topic, however, since it is interlocutor's attitude which makes the usage often differ from the codified norm. This paper focuses on the usage of indicative and/or subjuntive in nominal clauses with verbs entender, comprender, admitir, aceptar, explicar, sospechar, imaginar(se), figurarse, suponer and quejarse in the main clause. The norm, explained in the theoretical part of this work, is later confronted with the analysis of selected occurences in CRAE, i.e. the usage. Second analysis executed with paralel corpus InterCorp servers as comparison with the situation in Czech.

Hrobská, Eva ; Čermák, Petr (advisor) ; Kratochvílová, Dana (referee)
This diploma thesis is dedicated to the topic of Terminative and resultative verbal periphrasis in Spanish and Portuguese and is divided into two parts, theoretical and practical. In the first part, we give a general summary and classification of verbal periphrasis with an emphasis on the terminative and resultative ones. Included with the theoretical description there is also a subchapter about the situation in the Czech language which mainly discusses the question of verbal aspect. Subsequently, the theoretical results are compared in the second part of this work which is dedicated to a corpus analysis. We outline the frequency of chosen periphrasis in corpus in different types of documents but also the Czech translations. For this purpose, we were working with a parallel corpus InterCorp, more precisely Spanish and Portuguese subcorpus, but also with monolingual Spanish corpus CREA and monolingual Portuguese corpus Corpus do Português. In this part we have chosen the following periphrasis for the analysis: tener + participle, llevar + participle, estar + participle and salir + participle in Spanish and ter + participle, ficar + participle and sair + participle in Portuguese. In both languages we have chosen both active and passive resultative periphrasis.
Spanish terminative verbal periphrasis and its equivalents in Czech
Šilhavá, Terezie ; Čermák, Petr (advisor) ; Zavadil, Bohumil (referee)
I dedicated in my thesis on the system of Spanish terminative verbal periphrases and at the same time to explore its potential equivalents in Czech. Because of the fact, that we move on the field of the caracter of verbal action, I found it necessary to make clear that we know, what does the term caracter of verbal action and terminativity mean. In the theoretical part of my work I deal with each terminative periphrase, the division of them according to several types of terminativity, and I describe its characteristics. I also deal with the situation in Czech, I try to match possibilities of creating equivalents to these spanish periphrases. In the practical part, I tried to analyse chosen periphrases in monolingual corpus CREA, I also used another corpus programme AntConc to the analysis. Then I analysed the Czech equivalents of these periphrases using the paralel corpus InterCorp. I hope I managed to make a vision of the system of Spanish terminative verbal periphrases and of the possibilities of their translation to Czech.
