The system of providing of therapeutic pedagogical-psychological riding as a part of hipporehabilitation in the Czech Republic
ŠUHÁJKOVÁ, Pavla
Abstract This work is focused to theoretical and utility information from the hippo-rehabilitation branch. The hippo-rehabilitation, or the therapy by means horse, is a rather new phenomenon as a branch in the Czech Republic which has come only after 1989 and has been unknown to wider public till now. The hippo-rehabilitation is the peerless widest therapy, which merges biological, psychological, and social effects of horse to human organism. The thesis incorporates much inspiring information on the hippo-rehabilitation, its areas, on the selection and preparation of a horse for the hippo-rehabilitation, and on the natural partnership of horse and man. However, the biggest part is designated to one of the hippo-rehabilitation areas, i.e. to the therapeutic pedagogical-psychological riding (abbreviated LPPJ in Czech), which ranks mostly among psychology to psychiatry and pedagogy. The LPPJ is a dynamically developing branch and the number of facilities to offer this is increasing. The objective of the research was to map the system providing LPPJ in the Czech Republic and, at the same time, to assess its quality. For the research part I have selected the qualitative research method. To verify the findings and to increase the validity of the study, I have also used the document analysis method (secondary data analysis technique), interrogation (semi-standardised interview technique) and the involved observation. Photographic documentation was the supplementary technique. The research was performed in seven member organisations of the Czech Hippo-rehabilitation Society that provide the LPPJ. On the basis of information obtained by the data collection in all the facilities professional attitude of the hippo-rehabilitation teams has been proven, as well as meeting of conditions for admission of clients in the LPPJ, establishing of therapeutic objectives, maintaining of documentation, and regular recording of therapy progress. In the present period of the zoo-therapy ``boom{\crqq} important is precisely specified terminology on the LPPJ's performance and on the whole hippo-rehabilitation. In the Czech Republic we have been still short of sufficient quantity of specialised literature, thus a lot of people still having a faint view of what the hippo-rehabilitation is and what to await from this therapeutic rehabilitation method. Due to these reasons I hope my thesis will also contribute to the extension of the study documents and will improve availability of valid information on the performing of this modern method to the LPPJ's users.
