The general subject of this thesis is a new term in the practice of spatial planning: spatial study of the landscape. In this thesis the status of the term in spatial and landscape planning discourse is presented. What is, therefore, a spatial study of landscape, which terms it uses, who assigns it and how, who processes it and on what foundation, which strategic documents are respected and which are amended, what is the future and present condition of processing such study on the state level. In the methodology and results part there are suggested possibilities of a forest landscape analysis for purposes of a spatial study of the landscape: which foundations might be analysed and how, approach to both reconnaissance and design phases, how results might look and what is their actual meaning.
Landscape planning study as a tool for physical planning

The diploma thesis focuses on the new tool Landscape planning study for the municipality with extended competence. The main aim of this work is to find out, how Landscape planning study can be used, who can use it and how it may change the landscape. The thesis uses the case study methods of three selected municipalities with extended competence, namely Votice, Humpolec and Vodňany. The theoretical part discusses the concept of landscape and anchoring in planning activities. In next part, the thesis deals with the basic forms of tools that regulate the planning and using of landscape in Czechia, focusing mainly on spatial planning. Furthermore, the thesis deals with models that currently affect space planning, namely top-down and bottom-up models. Two basic hypotheses of the diploma thesis are set based on theoretical frameworks. There are two qualitative research methods used in the practical part of the thesis. The first method is the analysis of Landscape planning studies, second method are semi-structured interviews with selected respondents. The results of both methods show that Landscape planning study can be used only to a limited extent, mainly as an information source. This thesis is focused on the demarcation of significant landscape element "alluvial plain" in the process of making new a part of landuse layout conception for the broadened area of municipality of the town Opava. The thesis lays out the basis problematic of alluvial plain demarcation and its definition in law and other sources. It also mentions the position of landuse layout conception in spatial planning. Preceding methodologies for demarcation of alluvial plain are also mentioned as well as for the landuse layout conception and in the chapter Discussion these methodologies are compared. According to the chosen working methodology, areas with high probability of alluvial plain occurrence were singled out in the first basic area study and then these areas were localized and specified during the field survey. Results with comments as well as the final outcome of the project are part of the thesis as well. Nature and hydrological conditions in the area together with cultural and historical characteristics are also mentioned to anchor the phenomenon of alluvial plain in the region of Opava.
