Election Opinion Polls Interpretation

The thesis examines election polls media coverage with the goal to understand the structure of the polls media coverage, describe its problems, and contribute to their elimination. Using the framework of news values and commercial news values, the matter is first examined by content analysis on the case of the 2021 elections to the Czech Chamber of Deputies online media coverage. The polls are found to be extensively covered by the Czech online media. The articles are mostly based on the game metaframe with the metaphors of horse race and theater, limiting the voter agency. The greatest emphasis is assigned to calling winners of the polls, changes in the support, and 5% threshold. Unfortunately, most of the poll results are misinterpreted; the common mistake is the illusion of certainty attributed to the poll results. The content analysis findings are adopted by the experimental poll misinformation corrector design. The corrector is a human assisted Twitter robot that finds relevant media tweets about polls and corrects potential misinformation via Twitter replies. The corrector - detecting the illusion of certainty when declaring poll leaders, and results around 5% - aims to educate the actors and contribute to improving the poll media coverage.

Molekulární mechanismus cirkadiánních hodin a jejich synchronizace v trávicím systému potkana

The circadian system controls the timing of behavioral and physiological processes in most organisms with a period of about 24 h. In mammals, the circadian system consists of the central oscillator in the suprachiasmatic nuclei (SCN) and peripheral oscillators located in numerous organs such as the liver, heart, lung, muscles, intestines etc. Peripheral oscillators are cell-autonomous, they could also work independently of the SCN entrained by a feeding cycle. The misalignment of the endogenous timekeeping system, due to e.g. irregular daily schedule or shiftwork, may lead to the development of severe diseases including sleep disorders, gastrointestinal (GI) problems and various types of cancer. Therefore, understanding the molecular mechanism of the circadian clock may facilitate the treatment of diseases caused by malfunction of the circadian system. In my PhD thesis, I focused on the determination and synchronization of circadian clocks within the rat digestive system and on their development during ontogenesis. Moreover, the circadian system of a rat strain with pathology, i.e., spontaneously hypertensive rat (SHR) was also studied. Implementation of MS EXCEL and VBA in business field

Bachelor thesis describes the use of MS Excel and VBA to improve processes in a small carpentry firm KendyDoor. The objective of this thesis is to analyze processes of the firm, its deficiencies and to use gained information to improve them. The objectives are realized by advising implementation of MS Excel and VBA in firm processes and by realization of practical project -- creation of pricing document for KendyDoor.
