Media Image of Moving of City of Most in Contemporary Czechoslovakian Media

This master's thesis concerns the media image of the demolition of the old city of Most, construction of the new city of Most and transportation of the church of the Annunciation of the Virgin Mary in Most. The thesis presents the reflection of these events in contemporary Czechoslovakian media, particularly in daily journals Rudé právo, Průboj and Lidová demokracie, weekly magazines Květy and Mladý svět and programmes of Czechoslovakian Television between 1963 and 1975. Demolition of the old city, construction on the new city and transportation of the church were made with the aim to mine 100 milions tons of coal under the old part of the city. Mentioned historical events were worldwidely unique. The goal of this thesis is to find out which kind of media image was presented in mentioned contemporary Czechoslovakian media. The thesis consists of two main parts - theoretical and practical. Theoretical part offers necessary historical background, information about analyzed media and methodology. Practical part presents analysis of the articles and programmes using a comparative historical method.
North Bohemian panel construction: Comparison of housing estates Severní Terasa, Ruprechtice and Březenecká

The topic of this bachelor's thesis is a comparison of three selected North Bohemian housing estates, which are the Březenecká housing estate in Chomutov, the Severní Terasa housing estate in Ústí nad Labem and the Ruprechtice housing estate in Liberec. These housing estates will be compared within three categories: construction and used technology; architecture and aesthetics of the housing estate; and demographic structure of the housing estate. These housing estates were selected according to the principles of comparability. In all three cases, these housing estates are panel buildings, designed in the 1960s and their construction began in 1970 at the latest. All of the housing estates were built in the North Bohemian Region. In addition to the comparison of housing estates, this work also contains a theoretical insight into the history of the construction of panel buildings in Czechoslovakia.
Media image of the Most! series in selected Czech media

This bachelor's thesis deals with the media image of the television series Most! It is one of the most successful projects of Czech Television in terms of the number of viewers and the media interest in the series was great. The series was exceptional not only for its viewership but mainly for the topics it presented, such as xenophobia, racism, and gender issues. The story takes place in the North Bohemian town of Most. This thesis will briefly introduce the series itself, its plot, creators, and actors. However, the main part of the thesis consists of quantitative and qualitative content analysis of selected media. The aim of quantitative content analysis is to obtain data on how often and to what extent media wrote about the series, what topics the media most often addressed in connection to the series, and so on. The aim of qualitative content analysis is to analyze selected texts in more detail. Part of the work is also the statement of the creator of the series.
