Automated design and 3D printing of prototypes for urban engineering

This bachelor thesis deals with automated design and 3D prototype printing for urban engineering. In the first part, there is a general definition of 3D printing, including development and overview of basic technology and materials. It also follows the focus on certain measurement methods and the creation of 3D models. In the second part, the thesis focuses mainly on the use in the building industry and it discusses related topics such as the automatic optimization of the external elements of building elements or objects(shape), the internal topology of these building elements (fill) and the possible inspiration from organic structures. There is also distinguished between terrestrial applications focusing on the production of prefabricated building components and implementation at site. Extraterrestrial autonomous applications discuss the possibilities this technology for colonizing the Moon or Mars. This thesis presents the results of a unique assessment of the current state of the art in the field of applicability of 3D technology for additive production in the context of urban engineering and demonstrates the associated advantages and open problems on many examples. Finally, the benefits of this technology are evaluated.

New prepositions and use of ancient Greek prepositions in Modern Greek

Veronika Půlpánová Abstract: The first part of the thesis includes a definition of the term preposition and its general use and here it's represented as an outline of the evolution of the Greek language and prepositions together with the Greek Language tendency to lose declination and its transformation to the modern form. Second part tells about all kinds of prepositions in the Modern Greek language based on scientific grammar books. Prepositions are arranged according to the alphabet based on their types and there is an explanation of its use together with an example from a text from the ETHEG (Εθνικός Θησαυρός Ελληνικής Γλώσσας). In a case of the ancient prepositions based on their frequency and a reason of their preservation, possibly their influence on the preserving cases. The third part is dedicated to the Ancient Greek prepositions and their meanings in this way the contrast of their use between Modern and Ancient Greek is shown. Ancient Greek prepositions which are used in the Modern Greek language are mentioned.

Nikos Kazantzakis, Karel Čapek and their travel writings on England (England & Letters from England)

Kazantzakis' Ταξιδεύοντας. Αγγλία (England: A Travel Journal) belongs to the most significant pieces of travel writing both in Greece and abroad. Referring to Czech literature it is the travel journal of Karel Capek Anglické listy (Letters from England) that suggests itself for comparison as a literary piece of a similar relevance. The present thesis aims to compare particularly the way both authors - journalists - perceive the country and how they convey their experience, what they have in common and what the main differences are. This was accomplished by exploring the main topics referred to. Mixing genres is typical for both examined books. Capek writes in a form of playful feuilleton, Kazantzakis uses a serious reflection essay blending fact with fiction. Kazantzakis focuses on history of the nation and politics, Capek avoids these topics.

The semantic changes of the original Ancient Greek vocabulary in Modern Greek

The bachelor thesis deals with the linguistic field of semantics and with the semantic shifts which are illustrated on the selected words of the Ancient Greek vocabulary. The development of these words from Ancient to Modern Greek is studied. The thesis is divided into two main parts - theoretical and practical. The theoretical part deals with the history of lexical semantics and the approaches that this scientific field has brought and created. Furthermore, space is also given to the description of classification of semantic changes and of the causes and mechanisms of such changes in accordance with the results presented by linguists at the beginning of the semantic research and in the present. The practical part of the thesis deals with the semantic analysis of the three selected Greek verbs, namely δουλεύω, θεραπεύω and κηδεύω. The semantics of these verbs are compared on the basis of research in the dictionaries of Ancient, Medieval and Modern Greek. The analysis focuses mainly on two stages of the development of the Greek language, specifically on Ancient and Modern Greek. It also takes into consideration the meanings of the verbs in the Medieval Greek period.
