Adolf Vykopal (1910-1975): His Life and Work
Vlček, Tomáš ; Bartoň, Josef (advisor) ; Větrovec, Pavel (referee)
Adolf Vykopal (1910-1975): His Life and Work This thesis reconstructs the life of a Moravian Catholic priest, doctor of theology and emigrant Adolf Vykopal. A recent publication of one of his books in Italy (Morcelliana, 2013) gave the impulse that eventually resulted in writing this thesis. The research was particularly difficult for the simple fact that he spent the majority of his life abroad. He lived in Luxembourg, Belgium, France and most importantly in Italy. His name is almost unknown in the Czech academia although he published two books and several articles in the 30s and 40s. That is also the reason why there is almost no secondary literature about him. My work is therefore based on an archive research including personal archive materials. His main interests were the social and economical issues of his age. He tried to see them in the Christian perspective and offer a solution. However, his interests were much wider than that, ranging from Czech biblical translation and Church Fathers to systematic theology. The second part of my thesis focuses on his work and proposes a detailed overview of all the books and articles of his that I have managed to collect. The reader should get a complex perspective concerning this exceptional figure of Czech and European Catholic Church of 20th century.

Fišarová, Veronika ; Bednařík, Petr (advisor) ; Vlček, Tomáš (referee)
The master thesis is focusing on media image of Emil Zátopek using the method of qualitative content analysis. Five periods of time, each of them six months long and sixteen years apart, are examined. These periods of time are represented by the years 1952, 1968, 1984, 2000, 2016 in which the Summer Olympic Games were held. As a representative sample of the printed media during the time of communist hegemony in Czechoslovakia Rudé právo, Mladá fronta and Československý sport that has been thematically involved (there has been no analysis for this one during the year 1952 since the first print was published in 1953) were chosen. The printed media after the revolution time are represented by Právo, Mladá fronta Dnes and Sport. The thesis brings the answers to the main research question how the media image of the most successful Czechoslovak runner was developed in the context of political and that time contemporary situation and it also explains the other questions that are focused on the causes of this possible change and the difference between the presentation of mass media during the communist and later also democratic regime. The features and concepts of media image construct as well as social situation in the country, history of the chosen media and media function in the given periods of time...

Kaslová, Michaela ; Bednařík, Petr (advisor) ; Vlček, Tomáš (referee)
This bachelor thesis 'Media Portrayal of Czechoslovakia's Velvet Revolution in Czech Press' focuses on the period between November and December 1989. During this time, Czechoslovakia was undergoing a transformation. The focus is on the press of the time, specifically on Mlada Fronta, Rude Pravo, Lidova Demokracie a Svobodne Slovo. The introduction of the thesis is focused on the basic historic background and then each newspaper is introduced briefly. The main body of the thesis then analyses each newspaper, with focus on various articles related to the events around Velvet revolution and democratisation of the Czechoslovakian society. This thesis can offer an interesting insight into how particular media portrayed the events around Velvet revolution, how the media gradually went from censorship to freedom of speech and opened up for a political dialogue. The formation of current society and how media dealt with the new situation can be seen through the Czech press from the times of Totality.

Věra Šťovíčková-Heroldová, The African Journalist
Boháčová, Alžběta ; Železný, Jakub (advisor) ; Vlček, Tomáš (referee)
The bachelor thesis "Věra Šťovíčková-Heroldová, africká zpravodajka" deals with a life of a reporter Šťovíčková emphasising a decade she spent in Africa. The introductory part outlines a sociohistorical context of the period in which the reporter lived, specifically the time span of 1930 to 2015. The fundamental method of elaborating this text was the research of the oral history, and thus personal interviews made with acquaintances of Šťovíčková. Other valuable sources of findings were reports Šťovíčková made during her stay in Africa and interviews with her. Materials containing these records can be obtained from the archive of Czech (formerly Czechoslovak) Radio broadcasting service. The thematic parts follow on each other and chronologically describe the reporter's life. The main text uncovers the family environment, the early activity in the Czechoslovak Radio and the first travel across the border to Poland. An essential part of this text discusses the 1960s in Africa and the period when states were gaining independence. The significant milestone of her life was 1968. She actively participated in the broadcasting of ČsRo, to which is devoted also a part of this text followed by an explanation for reasons why she left Radio. The next chapter deals with the period when Šťovíčková was banned...
Security Policy of Neutral States After 9/11: Comparison of Selected European Countries
Vlček, Tomáš ; Karásek, Tomáš (advisor) ; Bahenský, Vojtěch (referee)
This bachelor's thesis compares Switzerland, Austria and Sweden as European neutral states and their activity in security policy. There are two dimensions for the comparison: peacekeeping dimension and counter-terrorism dimension. The time interval begins with the terrorist 9/11 attacks and continues to the present. In peacekeeping dimension the main focus is on contribution of units to peacekeeping missions. In counter-terrorism dimension the main focus is on strategy of global war on terror and strategy of combating terrorism. The result of this thesis is either confirmation or refutation of hypothesis about relationship between attitude to neutrality and activity in security policy. The assumption of this comparative study is that state with codified neutrality which is also mentioned in its foreign-security strategy is less active than state with non-codified neutrality not mentioned in its foreign-security strategy.
Hybrid materials with improved thermomechanical properties
Perchacz, Magdalena ; Beneš, Hynek (advisor) ; Vlček, Tomáš (referee) ; Brožek, Jiří (referee)
Epoxy resins have been broadly used in the industry for adhesives, laminates, coatings, composites, encapsulation of electronic devices, printed circuit boards, etc. Despite their excellent adhesion to different materials, heat and chemical resistance and good mechanical properties, they also exhibit few drawbacks like brittleness, high thermal expansion coefficient (CTE), poor resistance to crack initiation and growth. Therefore, the thesis is focused on the preparation of epoxy-silica hybrid materials exhibiting improved thermomechanical properties compared to the neat epoxides, without impairing their beneficial features. The main synthetic route of epoxy-silica hybrids' preparation has been the sol-gel process of alkoxysilanes, allowing either in-situ formation of high purity and homogeneity silica particles or creation of various siloxane structures in a form of liquid (sol) silica-based precursors. The sol-gel method, on one hand, helps to omit too high viscosity of nanofiller suspension and energy-intensive nanofiller dispergation problems, but on the other hand, is often associated with necessity to use solvents and to remove formed volatiles. Therefore, in the first part of the thesis, a simple solvent-free sol-gel procedure, enabling to minimize the side-effect of solvent evaporation and...
