Criteria for selecting suppliers

This thesis analyzes the process of selecting suppliers and the criteria that are taken into consideration within this process in three manufacturing companies: Bosal Czech, Ltd., Continental Czech Republic, Ltd., Brandýs nad Labem and GE Aviation Czech, Ltd. Thesis describes the process of selecting suppliers, evaluative criteria and firm's relationship to their current suppliers. The aim of the thesis is to find out how the process of selecting suppliers works in particular firms. One of the main purposes is to reveal the similarity in the selection process based on theoretical recommendations and best practice. Another objective of this thesis is to determine whether the surveyed firms are able to adapt to modern trends in the management of relations with suppliers.

International Production and Global Logistics Operations: Management Issues in Global Logistics with Offshored Production Systems

This paper is directed at discussing some of the management issues, problems and solutions of logistics in the context of offshored productive activities The introduction includes a discussion of the logistics topics and an introduction of the economic logic of offshoring. The main part analyses the logistics topics with regard to the internationally fragmented production. The topics of logistics include: Information flow and integration, transportation, inventory management, warehousing and materials management, packaging management, customer service, risk management, logistics strategies and supply chain design. For each of the discussed topics a company or industry example is given to illustrate the applications. The analysis is based on a review of the existing academic literature in each of these fields.

The objective of this thesis is to analyze logistics processes of company Verana, s.r.o. both from the cost and feasibility perspective and using this analysis, the thesis investigates the possibility of outsourcing logistics by using a third party, that is a logistics company. Both advantages and disadvantages are addressed and compared to the current state of logistics system in the company.

The Bachelor's work is called Purchasing and supply in joint stock company Jihočeská zelenina. This work is divided into two parts. The first part is theoretic and it is used as a background for the second practical part. In this section is described the last years 2003-2008 and the current situation in the company. The goal of this work was to show how the company has been effective in the purchasing and supply and try to propose new more effective basic steps and solutions how to improve activities in this sector in the factory.

Rationalisation of warehouse processes

The aim of this diploma thesis is to analyse actual processes in the warehouse of Electrolux and to recommend changes which should contribute to increase in efficiency of these warehouse processes. The concept of logistics and integrated supply chains is defined in the theoretical part. Moreover, this part outlines the task of logistics in the company and the role of warehousing. The analytical part focuses on warehouse area and on warehouse processes in the warehouse of Electrolux. The crucial topic of this part is the evaluation of possible alternatives of warehouse processes rationalisation.

Purchasing as a firm part of each company is an important department considerably influencing functioning of a firm. I confirm this fact and describe possible positions of purchasing department in the organizational structure of a company and internal organization of the department. I describe purchasing strategies and procedures with a focus on the modern trends and procedures, which are used in today's world. The second part is about the consignment stock, which is one way of lowering the stock level and thus, capital costs.

Práce vymezuje pojem outsourcing obecně, popisuje historické důvody jeho vzniku, důvody a podmínky jeho uplatnění. Práce popisuje výhody a nevýhody outsourcingu, realizaci outsourcingového procesu a charakterizuje outsourcing v podmínkách malých firem. Praktická část práce charakterizuje a analyzuje vybrané outsourcingové vztahy v živnosti Jaromíra Přidálka, posuzuje účelnost a výhodnost uplatnění outsourcingu a podává názorný příklad outsourcingu funkčních oblastí s důrazem na výrobní činnost.

Logistické řešení e-obchodu B2C - zpětné toky produkce

Předmětem práce je analyzovat rozdíly e-obchodu a kamenné prodejny z pohledu logistického zajištění a nalézt kritické body logistického řešení elektronického obchodu. Dále se práce zabývá problematikou zpětného toku zboží, jejíž význam s rozvojem elektronického obchodování narůstá. První část shrnuje význam a vývoj e-obchodování v České republice ve srovnání s Evropskou unií. Jsou představeny rozdíly v zajištění elektronické a kamenné prodejny a na základě těchto rozdílů a příkladů z praxe jsou uvedeny doporučení pro rozhodování o logistickém řešení elektronického obchodu. Ve druhé polovině práce jsou analyzovány zpětné toky produkce na teoretické i praktické bázi. V textu jsou uvedeny základní preventivní nástroje pro snížení zpětného toku a nástroje zpětné logistiky pro zefektivnění procesu vypořádávání se s vrácenou produkcí.
