The University Entrance Examination and New School-leaving Exam
Belháčová, Zuzana ; Vasileská, Marie (advisor) ; Kratochvílová, Věra (referee)
In connection with the legislative changes which have been taking place in the Czech Republic since the adoption of the New School Act and in accordance with the European Union recommendations, the demand for measurable results in education, which would be transparent, valid, reliable and comparable, has arisen. The issues connected with the evaluation of results in education will be dealt with in an autonomous institution - Centre for the Evaluation of the Results in Education (CERMAT). The newly established institution will start functioning on January 1st 2006.1 The Centre for the Evaluation of the Results in Education (CERMAT) is going to build on the results and data, which had been collected in the 2001 - 2006 period in the Centre for the Maturita Reform through annual research programmes, which were part of the programme cycle called "Step by Step to New Maturita".1 Graduation theses deal with testing issues in Science subjects (with the emphasis on Chemistry), ways and means can make use of the results in education (CERMAT) for entrance examination on university in the 2007-2008 period, interpretation of statistic data in relation to a test and to individual items. The basic principles of testing can make use of creation and test construction from chemistry on secondary schools. With the help of...
Didactic Tests for the Internal Evaluation of Schools in Chemistry
Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)
The level of knowledge and skills in chemistry among secondary school students
Cífková, Tereza ; Šulcová, Renata (advisor) ; Cídlová, Hana (referee) ; Vasileská, Marie (referee)
The primary goal of the this thesis is to create standardized tool to determine the level of competency in Chemistry (i.e. knowledge, abilities, and skills) among secondary school students, formulated in the form of "expected outcomes" in the Framework Education Programme for Secondary General Education (RVP G, 2007) and then use this tool to determine the success of students in secondary schools in teaching the tests expected outcomes of chemistry in the academic year 2014/2015. The creation of this research tool and determine the success of students after a few years of starting curricular reform allows for use in future years to monitor the development of education in chemistry by general educational programs. The study first conducted analyses of these expected outcomes from the perspective of Bloom's Taxonomy of Educational Objectives (Amer, 2006; Anderson et al., 2001; Hudecová, 2004; Krathwohl, 2002; Krietzer et al., 1994). By examining the School Education Programmes of secondary schools participating in the study, a curriculum was identified that is overlooked or not clearly defined by RVP G (2007), whose inclusion in education falls within the competence of each school. Requirements were also compared for outputs of chemistry education for secondary school students in the Czech Republic...
Simple Experiments with Naturally Occurring Materials in ChemistryEducation: Support of Empirical Method and Development of Related Competences
Böhmová, Hana ; Martínek, Václav (advisor) ; Smrček, Stanislav (referee) ; Vasileská, Marie (referee)
173 Summary The doctoral thesis is focused on the problem of gaining empirical knowledge in chemistry education, on the acquirement of related competences, and on the activities which would contribute to the improvements in chemistry education in this area. The aims set in the first part of the thesis were fulfilled. I have confirmed the insufficient level of the competences acquirement among the Czech students, such as formulation and verification of a hypothesis, planning and carrying out a simple experiment, interpretation of collected data or drawing conclusions. Main cause of this problem could be insufficient opportunity to develop these competences in school chemistry (or science) education at ground and high school level. Experimental activities of individual students are rare in Czech chemistry lessons. The teachers quote that the main problem responsible for this situation is missing equipment for practical activities in their schools and absence of suitable school experiments reflecting the given safety directives. Considering these findings, I have created a set of simple chemistry experiments utilizing natural products and substances The experiments are suitable for the individual work of students and for chemistry education even at schools without a laboratory or special science classroom....

Evaluation of Eduction on Basic and Secondary Schools
Kindl, Lukáš ; Kratochvílová, Věra (referee) ; Vasileská, Marie (advisor)
As of January 1st, 2006, based on the law 561/2004 Coll., the Ministry of Schools, Youth and Physical Education founded an independent institution called "Center for educational results appreciation" (abbreviated as CERMAT). The Center concentrates on solving several key issues related to the need to ensure easy to understand, comprehensive and mutually measurable educational results. Leaving aside the issue of state coordinated secondary school leaving examination, evaluation and auto-evaluation of schools stands out as equally important area of interest. This area is being worked out within the system project KVALITA I under European Social Fund (ESF). The aim of the project is to gradually develop new system for monitoring and evaluating results of primary and secondary education. The thesis deals with creation of tools (in the form of achievement tests) aimed at evaluation and auto-evaluation of educational results reached in science topics, namely in chemistry. Preparatory and submission phases were followed by didactic analysis of statistical data obtained through pilot survey using two sets of tasks (each in two modifications), namely "Chemistry basics" and "Critical reading focused on healthy diet and regime". Based on proposed changes the tasks were adopted and tests were created to measure the...
Additional Education of Teachers and Preparation to New School-leaving Exam
Botková, Kamila ; Vaňková, Věra (referee) ; Vasileská, Marie (advisor)
A successful course of lifelong education of all pedagogical workers, including chemistry teachers, is part of necessary background for implementing changes concerning our contemporary education system (the educating reform, general educating programs, a creation of a unified system of evaluation and so forth). The need for further education is caused both by new professional and didactic approaches within the particular school subject and by a quick development of new information technologies. Besides the most common forms of further education such as courses, seminars, laboratory practices, field trips, educational programs and further professional studies at universities, there are also teachers' exchange stays and activities based on a cooperation among schools within the framework of systemic projects of European structural funds. The thesis discusses one of the newest forms of further education, e-learning. Its goal is to outline a scenario for the preparation of a basic distance e-learning education of chemistry teachers. The theme was chosen in regard to the important area of evaluation and autoevaluation of education results, and it is approached from the viewpoints of the school and the student. It concerns basic tools as is the mathematical problem and its application in didactic tests. The...
