Changes of religiousness in the Ještěd Prose by Karolina Světlá
Kamenická, Andrea ; Vaněk, Václav (referee) ; Heczková, Libuše (referee)
Rigorózní práce s názvem "Proměny religiozity v ještědských prózách Karoliny Světlé" se zabývá rozbory ještědských románů spisovatelky Karoliny Světlé. Prostřednictvím analýzy proměn náboženského vědomí postav a následné interpretace vystihuje charakteristiku podob lidové zbožnosti v prózách. V práci je konfrontován beletristický obraz jednotlivých forem religiozity s reálnými historickými skutečnostmi, kdy v rámci ještědských románů dochází k ověření nejpodstatnějších aspektů náboženských hledisek v "dlouhém" 19. století. Cílem práce je reflektovat vývojové proměny prozaických děl Karoliny Světlé a interpretovat je na pozadí námi stanovených problémových okruhů dobového pojetí zbožnosti a přístupů k samotné víře. Abstract The dissertation entitled "Changes of religiousness in the Ještěd Prose by Karolina Světlá" deals with an analysis of the Ještěd Novels by the author Karolina Světlá. It characterises the depiction of vernacular devoutness in the novels by means of an analysis of the changes in thecharacters' religious consciousness and their subsequent interpretation. The paper confronts the fictional depiction of the various forms of religiousness with real historic facts; the most important factors of the religious positions of the "long" 19th century are verified on the scale of the Ještěd...
Different kinds and functions of death motives in the fairytales of K. J. Erben and B. Němcová
Hupáková, Kateřina ; Šmahelová, Hana (advisor) ; Vaněk, Václav (referee)
This thesis focuses on the death motives in the chosen magic fairy tales of Karel Jaromír Erben and Božena Němcová. In the first part, the historical context of both authors's fairy tales origins is defined. The second part, which is the main focal point of this paper, analyses six fairy tales written by K. J. Erben and six written by B. Němcová using Propp's method of morphological analysis. These fairy tales are afterwards examined from two different perspectives: firstly by the function which corresponds with the motive of death in the fairy tale and secondly by the way the situation of the death is depicted in the given fairy tales. The gained information are compiled to create a commented typology of the different death motives. Together with summarizing the concurrences and differences of the death motives in the fairy tales of K. J. Erben and B. Němcová, this is the main goal of the thesis.
St. John of Nepomuk: Legend and anti legend in Czech literature
Bezstarosti, Jindra ; Hošna, Jiří (advisor) ; Vaněk, Václav (referee)
This bachelor thesis deals with the translation of the character of John of Nepomuk. First, it is focused on the character of John of Nepomuk like the historical personality. Second, this thesis describes character of John of Nepomuk like the baroque construct in literary works of Bohuslav Balbin. The thesis also deals with the genesis of St. John's anti-legend. The genesis is observed through long disputes about the character of John of Nepomuk. The translation considers the Nepomuk's legend to be at least as viable as the anti-legend. The proof of this theory that regards the both legend viable, the thesis recognizes in current Midsummer (St. John's) festivities.
Picture of the age in rural stories in the second half of the nineteenth century
Budílková, Jitka ; Šmahelová, Hana (advisor) ; Vaněk, Václav (referee)
The aim of this paper is to describe the evolution of village prose in the second half of the 19th Century, I base my interpretation on the display changes to themes of old age. I watch both literary and historical development, but also the existential elements of old age. These then telling the help of theses philosopher Jean Amery. My interpretation is based on four major works, themes that deal with old age. It is a Babička (1855) by Božena Němcová, the story Na vejminku (70s of the 19th century)by Vítězslav Hálek, the story Konec života Karel Václav Rais and finally the story by Teréza Nováková. The analysis approaching from obvious at first glance, obvious concepts which binds age and progresses toward its existential component, that is how old people perceive time. The descriptions of the individual performs a gradual evolution from a pure literary and historical idylism to realism.
Development of an alternative synthesis of Sm-pdta, a chiral NMR shift reagent for amino acids analysis
Hrubá, Lucie ; Vaněk, Václav (advisor) ; Pohl, Radek (referee)
This bachelor thesis deals with the preparation of chiral shift reagents sodium [(R)- and (S)-1,2-diaminopropane-N,N,N',N'-tetraacetate]samarate, for short Sm-(R)-pdta and Sm-(S)-pdta. These reagents have the ability to differentiate NMR signals of enantiomers of amino acids in an aqueous environment. The main aim of this work was to develop a new, efficient and cheap method of the preparation of these reagents which would enable their routine use in laboratory practice, because these reagents are commercially available only in limited quantities and at high price. This work describes simplifield method of separation of racemic 1,2-diaminopropane to its enantiomers from easily available starting substances, L-tartaric acid and racemic 1,2-diaminopropane. We also developed and optimized a new process of synthesis of the key intermediate, (R)- and (S)-1,2-diaminopropane-N,N,N',N'-tetraacetic acid from (R)- and (S)-1,2-diaminopropane dihydrochloride, with a new synthetic step involving tetrabenzylester of this acid and its deprotection by hydrogenolysis without contamination by extraneous ions. This process affords very pure anhydrous acid in high yield. Finally, the target complexes Sm-(R)-pdta and Sm-(S)-pdta were successfully prepared from (R)- and (S)-1,2-diaminopropane-N,N,N',N'-tetraacetic acid...
Christian mysticism in selected works of Zeyer prose from 90's
Raušerová, Andrea ; Vaněk, Václav (advisor) ; Wiendl, Jan (referee)
IN ENGLISH LANGUAGE This thesis deals with the genre of Christian mysticism present in the shorter legends and novellas by Julius Zeyer from the end of the 19th century. The thesis consists of a theoretical and practical part. The theoretical part contains a brief biography of Julius Zeyer along with a short introduction into the Czech historical and literary context of the 1890s. The second chapter of the theoretical part defines the term Christian mysticism as understood in the context of Zeyer's experience. The practical part focuses on the analysis of chosen texts - Three legends of The Crucifix, The Garden of Mary and Christine The Miraculous. Apart from their brief summation in the third chapter the thesis outlines three bigger thematic parts of the texts in the fourth chapter, which consists the core of the work. Every theme is matched with one of the texts - love together with Three legends of The Crucifix, beauty with The Garden of Mary, pain and suffering with Christine The Miraculous. The fifth chapter delves into the motif of prayer in all of Zeyer's texts. Prayer here is divided into three types - loving, beautiful and painful. We can see the connection of this division with the previous chapter. The last chapter refers to other Zeyer's prose works which we also consider to be a part...
