Vojtíšek, Ondřej ; Vaněk, Václav (advisor) ; Vojvodík, Josef (referee)
Interpretation of fairy tales authored by Josef Štefan Kubín Ondřej Vojtíšek Abstract: This bachelor's thesis deals with interpretation of Josef Štefan Kubín's author fairy tales both in theory and application. Its goal is to describe options of interpretation of children's literature and to demonstrate these options by means of Kubín's literal work. As a result, this bachelor's thesis also highlights semantics riches and valuable qualities of this part of Kubín's work, which is being neglected by publishers nowadays. In its theoretical part, the thesis addresses several issues: different ways of interpretation of fairy tales, specification of the term "author fairy tale" and the different forms of Kubín's fairy tales. As a method of interpretation, synthesis of several approaches (Franz, Šmahelová, Urbanová, and others) was used and each of these approaches was described by one example. This synthesis provides insight into the meaning of fairy tales that can be therefore understood as representation of situations outlined not only with help of motives but with help of specific expressions as well. Collections of fairy tales authored by Kubín are analyzed in respect to the amount of Kubín's own invention compared with the quantity of folk motives. Melancholy in the poetry of Antonín Sova
Urbanová, Martina ; Vojvodík, Josef (advisor) ; Vaněk, Václav (referee)
The main theme of this thesis is a literary motive of melancholy in the poetry of a Czech poet Antonín Sova. The end of 19th century and the beginning of 20th century we can consider as a specifically melancholic and it is possible to see it especially in pieces of writing of many authors. The rare situation happened in the Czech lands. The Czechs were ready to deal with new issues, but their expectation did not come true. The frustration of all the situation is noticeable mainly in works of Czech decadents, but we can also see it in the poetry of Antonín Sova. It is obvious in his Vybouřené smutky and then in Ještě jednou se vrátíme... which follows and we chose it as a basic text for our interpretation of melancholic motive in Sova's poetry. It was published in time of culminating expectations of some changes in the field of social situation, which was becoming unbearable. It is impossible to omit melancholic feeling in Ještě jednou se vrátíme..., but it is somehow modified, especially in his lyric poetry, which does not sound unambiguously tragical, but on the contrary it offers particular hopes. For the purpose of getting to know the motive of melancholy we researched a concept of melancholy during its history. It enabled us to point out some typical features of melancholy like e. g. involvement in the...
Two realities in the works of Jan Weiss
Magulová, Naďa ; Vaněk, Václav (advisor) ; Mravcová, Marie (referee)
The aim of this thesis is to capture the representation of two realities in the works of Jan Weiss. Weiss' conception of reality oscillates between interrelated fantasy and reality approach and is based on his personal, unusually intensive experience with dream (He experienced dream visions during his typhus fevers in a prisoner camp in Siberia). The first part of this thesis focuses on Weiss' works from 1920s and 1930s. The original theme of dream and dual reality is expressed by the key motive of the mirror and the motive of the double; taking this as his starting point, the author further develops the question of other polarities (evil and good, consciousness and subconsciousness, dreams and reality, the ordinary and the extraordinary) and their relations. Inspired by sickly dreams and the author's WWI experience, the fantastic world of Weiss' writings shows signs of extreme abnormality, mainly time-spatial discontinuity; his early works can be related to expressionism. Dream often verges on hallucinations and madness. Another theme appearing in Weiss' works is that of darkness and blindness, which stands not only for the mysterious territory between the waking hours and sleep, but also for Weiss' moral doubts. The second part of this thesis focuses on genre schemes and types that can be found in Weiss'...
The Image of Subcarpathian Rus in the Work of Ivan Olbracht (From Reportage to Novel and Novella)
Beníšková, Dagmar ; Mravcová, Marie (advisor) ; Vaněk, Václav (referee)
Abstract The thesis deals with the relation of Ivan Olbracht and Subcarpathian Rus. Giving a brief summary of examined territory's history, the authoress attends to Olbracht's Subcarpathian stay and its influence on his work. Olbracht was challenged by the social and political conditions of fossil region to write a set of reportages released in newspaper and afterwards in a double book edition (Země bez jména, Hory a staletí). In the reportages he prepaired a factual and epical field for his prosaic pieces - Nikola Šuhaj loupežník and Golet v údolí (for completeness' sake it's essential to mention Marijka nevěrnice). Authoress devotes herself to a thematic analysis of reportages observing the way Olbracht depicted no longer existing culture and community. She applies this thematic outline on the outlaw novel and the triptych of short stories. It is hereby documented Olbracht's methodics consisting in a stratified narration based on two main layers: factual (empirical) and legendary (poetic).

Kamenická, Andrea ; Vaněk, Václav (referee) ; Heczková, Libuše (referee)
Rigorózní práce s názvem "Proměny religiozity v ještědských prózách Karoliny Světlé" se zabývá rozbory ještědských románů spisovatelky Karoliny Světlé. Prostřednictvím analýzy proměn náboženského vědomí postav a následné interpretace vystihuje charakteristiku podob lidové zbožnosti v prózách. V práci je konfrontován beletristický obraz jednotlivých forem religiozity s reálnými historickými skutečnostmi, kdy v rámci ještědských románů dochází k ověření nejpodstatnějších aspektů náboženských hledisek v "dlouhém" 19. století. Cílem práce je reflektovat vývojové proměny prozaických děl Karoliny Světlé a interpretovat je na pozadí námi stanovených problémových okruhů dobového pojetí zbožnosti a přístupů k samotné víře. Abstract The dissertation entitled "Changes of religiousness in the Ještěd Prose by Karolina Světlá" deals with an analysis of the Ještěd Novels by the author Karolina Světlá. Sports in Czech literature

This diplom a thesis has two goals. One of them is to bring a compact biography of the Czech writer Zdeněk Matěj Kuděj (1881 - 1951), one of the representatives of modernism and a c10se friend to the writer Jaroslav Hašek. Despite intensive search I was not able to get any record or evidence of the whole Kudějs life. In the second part, the thesis covers the part of his work which was influenced by his travels, primarily those which took him outside Bohemia. Between years 1903 - 1909 he traveled the USA. He lived as a tramp and made his living as a casual worker. Experiences from this period were later described in couple of his books. In 1913 he spent almost a year in a prison of the tsarist Russia. Also this experience was reflected in his work.
