Stability in Showjumping and Dressage Riders
Vaňková, Kateřina ; Kučerová, Klára (advisor) ; Rampová, Michaela (referee)
Horse-riding has a major influence on the posture of the whole body of the rider. Rider has to constantly compensate the movement of horse's body and has to maintain a proper seat. The compensation is very demanding in harder tasks (showjumping, trotting) and is provided mainly by the trunk area of rider's body. In addition, if the saddle doesn't fit the rider, it leads to improper seat and the compensation becomes even harder. In long term, that could affect different segments of the rider's body and his overall stability. The practical part of this thesis consists of one-time examination of two groups. The first group contained nine showjumping and dressage riders who engage in horse-riding regularly over many years and do not do any other sport or compensatory exercises. The second group was control group and consisted ten healthy controls. Both groups contained 19-24 years old volunteers of the same gender. The main goal was to compare the two groups and to find out whereas the inclusion of the compensatory excercises would be desirable for riders. The examination was executed using a force plate with the software Kistler MARS (Measurement, Analysis & Reporting Software). On the force plate, postural stability of standing and a dynamic test were examined. Intrumental examination was...
Models for Forecasting Interest Rates with Application to Bond Portfolio Immunisation

Title: Models for Forecasting Interest Rates with Application to Bond Portfolio Immunisation Author: Kateřina Vaňková Department: Department of Probability and Mathematical Statistics Supervisor: doc. RNDr. Ing. Miloš Kopa, Ph.D., Department of Probability and Mathematical Statistics Abstract: The development and behaviour of interest rates play a crucial role in many financial fields. Interest rates can be forecasted using several models with different assumptions. In reality, these assumptions are not usually met. It leads to situations when a sophisticated and theoretically well-established model is not significantly better than simple methods, such as random walk. This thesis aims to study several approaches to interest rate forecasting, apply these approaches to European interest rate data, and find the best model for these real data. We will model European interest rates using several models. We will consider the Nelson- Siegel model (with two different approaches on how to estimate the shape parameter λ), the vector autoregression model with lag one (VAR(1)) and the Vasicek model. We will evaluate these models based on in-sample and also out-of-sample fit. We will use the Diebold-Mariano test to evaluate the statistical significance of models' forecast error differences. We select random walk as a benchmark...
Cobalt phthalocyanines as sensors for detection of htiol groups
Vaňková, Kateřina ; Nesměrák, Karel (advisor) ; Schwarzová, Karolina (referee)
Title: Cobalt phthalocyanines as sensors for determination of thiol groups Annotation: The possibility of employment of cobalt phthalocyanine as a material for the modification of HOPG electrode for construction of a sensor for quantification of thiol groups was studied. Thiol groups are occurring in various biologically active substances (sulfur amino acids). The electrochemical behavior of cobalt tetraneopentoxy-phthalocyanine (CoTNPc) in the water/organic phase system was studied, and individual peaks of cyclic voltammogram of the compound were identified. The electrodeposition of CoTNPc on HOPG electrode was found as a suitable method for construction of the sensor for quantification of thiol groups. The reproducibility of fabrication of the sensor and its time-stability was studied. The calibration dependencies for model analytes (cysteine hydrochloride and homocysteine) were measured. Key words: thiols, phthalocyanines, amperometric sensor, cyclic voltammetry

Physiotherapy in patients with long-term heart assist devices
Vaňková, Kateřina ; Chvojková, Lenka (advisor) ; Heřmanová, Ivona (referee)
BACHELOR THESIS ABSTRACT Name, surname: Kateřina Vaňková Supervisor: Mgr. Lenka Chvojková Title of bachelor thesis: Physiotherapy in patients with long-term heart assist devices Abstract: This thesis deals with the issue of physiotherapy in patients after the implantation of long-term heart assist devices (in this case of the type HeartMate 3). The goal of this thesis is to find the possibilities of physiotherapy within cardiovascular rehabilitation after surgical implantation of heart assist device and subsequent application of this knowledge in practice. The thesis is divided into theoretical and practical parts. The theoretical part consists of basic information about the heart muscle and heart failure as the most common cause of implantation of the long-term heart assist device. Next, both heart assist devices in general and concretely HeartMate 3 are presented. Finally, there is a chapter devoted to cardiovascular rehabilitation. The practical part was created based on professional practice in the IKEM hospital in Prague at the turn of July and August 2020. There is an elaboration of case studies of two probands using functional testing such as the 2 Minute Walk Test and Barthel Index. The results of comparing the input and output examinations are summarized in the discussion and conclusion. Key words:...
Biological effects of edible algae.
Vaňková, Kateřina
Nutritional factors with antioxidant properties, such as those contained in edible algae or green plants, might be implicated in protection against cancer development. Chlorophyll and other tetrapyrrolic compounds, structurally related to heme and antioxidant bile pigment bilirubin, belong to important candidate molecules, which might be responsible for these effects. Based on our studies demonstrating antiproliferative effects of S. platensis edible alga extract on experimental model of human pancreatic adenocarcinoma we investigated in detail the effect of chlorophyll occurring abundantly in this alga. Since only scarce data exist on the antiproliferative effects of chlorophylls, the aim of our study was to assess these effects. The study was performed on experimental models of human pancreatic and prostate cancer. The inhibitory effects of chlorophylls (chlorophyll a, chlorophyll b, chlorophyllin and pheophytin a) on cell proliferation and cell viability were investigated in in vitro studies. Chlorophylls reduced the mRNA expression as well as activity of hemeoxygenase in tested pancreatic cancer cells. Simultaneously, chlorophylls played an important role in redox environment of studied cancer cell lines including modulation of mitochondrial membrane potential, reactive oxygen species (ROS)...
Parameter choice in portfolio optimization problems based on out-of-sample performance
Vaňková, Kateřina ; Kopa, Miloš (advisor) ; Večeř, Jan (referee)
This thesis investigates three optimization models using the rolling window method. These models are based on maximizing profits and minimizing risk. Two statistics are considered in the models: expected value and a risk measure. Risk measures analyzed in this thesis are: the variance, the Conditional Value-at-Risk at a specified confidence level, and the Mean Absolute Deviation. Models are tested on the real US stock data of ten companies in the time period of twenty years: from January 30th, 1999 to January 30th, 2019. The aim of this thesis is to analyze these models using the rolling window method and to investigate its sensitivity towards changes in the values of several parameters in order to identify the best parameter setting.
