A good level of knowledge of the issues of this spectrum neurodevelopmental disorder, the possibilities of pupil support and effective strategies of motivation for schoolwork is a prerequisite for the school success of a pupil with ADHD. The aim of the research was to specify the level of knowledge of teachers about the problem of ADHD and to shed light on what strategies they choose in the context of motivation for school work among this group of pupils. A mixed research design provided scope for a combination of research methods. The KADDS scale was used to identify teachers' knowledge and misconceptions about ADHD. The analysis of the research data yielded information about the average level of knowledge and helped to specify specific topics for in-service teacher education. As part of the implementation of focus groups with a lower secondary school teachers who have experience in teaching pupils with ADHD, we found that for motivation to work at school they choose mainly educational procedures and interventions recommended by school counseling facilities, which mainly consist in adjusting the organization of teaching and...

The Significance of Diversity for Special Educational Thinking
Prouzová-Květoňová, Regina ; Titzl, Boris (advisor) ; Kysučan, Jaroslav (referee) ; Vítková, Marie (referee)
To elucidate the relation between human beings and diversity, to find the means for its integration, and to expose the attitudes that society has had and still has to diversity - this is the objective of this dissertation. Diversity, dissimilarity, these are general terms that cover persons with physical handicaps, social disadvantages, mental handicaps, as well as members of ethnic and religious minorities and people in extreme situations. The author's intent was to collect a large number of cases where diversity, thus broadly conceived, is perceived as an advantage or as a condition that one can come to terms with, with or without the assistance of others. Human society has treated and still treats otherness disapprovingly, with disdain or scorn. These interrelations, which are manifested across all culture and history, may be helpful to the professionals and the people on the other side - the disadvantaged. They can help them find a path to pursue and pass to an understanding of oneself in one's otherness and to understand others that have found themselves under the sway of otherness. The directions outlined in the individual chapters suggest different ways of facing differences. Each chapter makes a different contribution to a special branch of study, focusing on a specific area, and analysing...
Support systems for students with disabilities at tertiary education
Votava, Jiří ; Květoňová, Lea (advisor) ; Vítková, Marie (referee) ; Strnadová, Iva (referee)
For years, tertiary education has been in the focus of school policy makers, research teams and groups of stakeholders. For example the communiqué of UNESCO World Conference on Higher Education 2009 in Paris repeatedly stressed social importance and responsibility of tertiary education which should help humanity with solving many social, economical, scientific and cultural problems. The aim of this theoretical-empirical thesis is to constitute terminological apparatus and informational base for deeper understanding of support systems for university students with special needs, to propose possible models or scenarios of supportive activities and to compare situation in the Czech environment with selected examples from foreign institutions. The author defines and analyses the system of support for students with special needs in tertiary education and presents theories suitable for their description and understanding. Supportive structure of education is defined as a system of institutions and services, which helps to create optimal conditions, to solve problems and to remove shortcomings in functioning of an educational system. The support is understood as a system that consists of legislative and organisational measures, resources, interventions and services provided by educational institutions and...

Šumníková, Pavlína ; Květoňová, Lea (advisor) ; Vítková, Marie (referee) ; Strnadová, Iva (referee)
Olfactory sense is considered as one of the compensatory senses in the speciál educational practice. The advanced thesis is focused on examination of olfactory sense in people with visual impairment. In order to fulfil the aim of the thesis, the standardized tests of olfactory perception UPS1T and STT were utilized. Furthermore the tested people were asked their subjective perception in using the olfactory sense in everyday life. 154 probands, 77 individuals with visual impairment (45 men and 32 women) and 77 individuals from a control group participated in the research. The condition for people with visual impairment to join the research was determined if the incidence of visual impairment was for longer than five years and the level of visual impairment (according to WHO, 1992) within the category of low vision, blindness and unqualified visual loss. People from the control group were chosen to match the participants with visual impairment in age and sex. One of the applied methods was the critical analyses of professional literature in order to understand the structure of olfactory analysers, the process of transformation in olfactory information, the level of olfactory perception during the development and maturation of individual, and the function of olfactory sense in people with visual impairment...

The thesis is focused on the support of communication skills by graphomotorics in the context of comprehensive rehabilitation, on the improvement of the quality of life of people with aphasia after stroke and the support in their families. The main aim of this work is to monitor the development of influence of special pedagogical intervention on strengthening graphomotorics and supporting communication skills. The sub-goals are to design a program of special pedagogical intervention for people after a stroke and evaluation of the effectiveness of a special pedagogical intervention in robotically assisted rehabilitation and distance rehabilitation led by a special pedagogue. We set research questions. The target group consists of 34 people aged 45 to 75 years, 3-50 months after a stroke, with an affected dominant hand and a diagnosis of aphasia located in follow-up institutional care and outpatient care. For empirical research, we chose an observation, an interview, and an experiment. In the participatory research, we involved the researched person in the role of a researcher. Through exploratory research, we addressed robotically assisted rehabilitation and distance rehabilitation. The research used a record sheet for special pedagogical diagnostics of fine motor skills, a functional communication...

Volemanová, Marja Annemiek ; Květoňová, Lea (advisor) ; Vítková, Marie (referee) ; Bartoňová, Miroslava (referee)
The aim of the dissertation entitled Neuro-Developmental Stimulation in special education teachers work is to explain a lesser-known phenomenon (persistent primary reflexes and sensory-sensitive integration disorders in children) to determine the prevalence of persistent primary reflexes in pupils from 5 to 8 years and verify effectiveness of the method Neuro- Developmental Stimulation as a possible intervention program for special educators. The theoretical basis is current knowledge about psychomotorics, primary reflexes, sensory perception and sensory-sensitive integration. The main part of the work is research into the prevalence of persistent primary reflexes. The research group consists 345 pupils from 5 to 8 years of age attending regular kindergartens and primary schools and 26 pupils aged 8 to 11 years attending a primary school established pursuant to Section 16, Paragraph 9 of the Czech Education law. Intervention by the Neuro-Developmental Stimulation method is verified in a case study. The next part of the research maps the experience of special pedagogue teachers and speech therapists with the method Neuro-Developmental Stimulation as an intervention program. The research has a quantitative approach. For data collection, questionnaires were distributed among all special pedagogues and...
