Support of Reading in the Municipal Library Branches in Prague

(in English) The thesis deals with a support of reading with aim effort to offered service, organizing cultural and educational actions in the Municipal Library of Prague. The first part solves theoretical definition and the meaning of reading. There are briefly explained some terms that relate to - reading, the reader, reading socialization, reading literacy, etc. Factors that influence reading process and education for reading are monitored, as well. Furthermore, national representative projects supporting reading primarily in libraries are presented at my work, too. The second part of my work is focused on the Municipal Library of Prague and its role in supporting reading. It describes the library from the view of its mission, the way of financing (funding) and organization structure. The essential part pays attention to the presentation of specialized sections and services, which are provided in the library. It describes different actions supporting reading or providing propagation of the library. Last but not least, the different sections of the Municipal Library of Prague are depicted here with attention to organizing cultural and educational actions, which contributes to supporting reading. Exploring readability - a comparison of methods of text difficulty measuring

This bachelor thesis consists of two main parts. Following a short historical overview in the field, the most used readability formulæ for Czech and English languages are presented in the first part, with peeks to couple of solutions in other languages as well. Each readability measure is presented with an equation and instructions for its use. In the more practical second part, the work focuses at using or not using the formulæ on everyday basis, presents problems related to them and discusses their reliability supported by author's own measurements. Analysis of the current state of school libraries in the region Prague 1-5

Bakalářská práce se zabývá analýzou současného stavu školních knihoven v regionu Praha 1 - 5. Práce je členěna do tří kapitol, v úvodní kapitole je definován pojem školní knihovna a vymezen sledovaný region. V druhé části textu jsou představeny použité sociologické metody a zhodnocena jejich úspěšnost při vlastním průzkumu. Těžiště práce je soustředěno do třetí kapitoly, ve které je popsán stav školních knihoven v jednotlivých obvodech sledovaného regionu a prostřednictvím grafů a tabulek jsou vyhodnoceny výsledky průzkumu. V závěru práce jsou shrnuty poznatky získané v průběhu celého průzkumu.

A child and the world of fairy tales

Práce se zabývá historií a vývojem pohádky a čtenářskými zájmy dětí předškolního a mladšího školního věku. Součástí je také kapitola zabývající se úrovní vydávání pohádek v našich nakladatelstvích. Práce se dále věnuje srovnání úrovně četby pohádek v současnosti s dobou před 60 - 70. lety. V rámci Klubu dětských knihoven jsou popsány jednotlivé celostátní akce, které jsou organizovány na podporu čtenářství. Kromě nich jsou vybrány a zmíněny zajímavé regionální akce, které knihovny organizují pro své čtenáře. Práce také obsahuje anketu, která zjišťuje čtenářské zájmy dětí mladšího školního věku.

Development of reader's aquirements in age from 10 to 15

Bakalářská práce je zaměřena na rozvoj čtenářských dovedností u dětí a mládeže školního věku. Práce zdůrazňuje důležitost prostředí a charakteristiky rodin, knihoven a škol na rozvoj nejen čtenářství, ale celkové osobnosti mládeže. V práci je rozveden vývoj osobnosti, vnímání literatury a její vliv na rozvoj osobnosti, psychologie čtenářů a jejich začlenění do společnosti a způsoby získávání znalostí v knihovnách, knihách, z televize a internetu, negativní působení těchto médií na čtenáře. Také je možné zde naleznout metody výzkumů četby, kampaně a weby zaměřené na podporu čtenářství a v samotném závěru i výsledky analýzy mezi mladými čtenáři.

The contribution of music department of the public library to the advancement of children's reading

Práce je věnována vlivu hudby na dětské čtenářství, přičemž za hlavní zdroj hudebních nosičů jsou považována hudební oddělení veřejných knihoven. Popisována je historie závádění těchto nosičů do knihoven, jejich typologie a současný stav hudebních oddělení z hlediska legislativy, skladby fondu i finančního hlediska. Zvláštní pozornost je věnována Městské knihovně Ostrov a jejímu hudebnímu oddělení, kde také probíhal výzkum přijímání zvukových nosičů (především zvukových knih) dětmi. Cílem výzkumu bylo zjistit nejen jak děti tyto nosiče přijímají, ale také jak s nimi pracují a jakým způsobem je tyto nosiče ovlivňují z hlediska vytváření nebo naopak rušení čtenářských návyků.

Environments and projects that support children's reading

The thesis deals with a support of children's reading. The work is aimed to factors and actors influencing reading education. The first part solves theoretical definition and the meaning of reading. Primarily there are explained two important terms related to the topic - reading and a reader. Further it is proceeding by attention given to different phases of reading education before and during school attendance. Primarily three environments influencing reading literacy were observed. These include family, school and public library. Furthermore, national representative projects supporting reading primarily in libraries are shortly presented at this thesis as well. The second part is focused on the Municipal Library of Prague, specifically Smichov branch and its activities. In this part are charted various programmes for children. Repeated activities for parents with children or for children alone are observed. Also, events for groups of preschool and school children are described. The important part of presented work deals with survey of cooperation between Smichov branch and local schools. The research results are to determine practical experience of teachers from these schools in activities of Smichov branch and in their cooperation with this library.

Library services for senior citizens in the Vysočina region - specialized on the Municipal Library in Třebíč

This bachelor labour describes current offer of services for seniors in chosen libraries in the region of Vysocina, especially in the Krajská knihovna Vysočiny (Regional library of Vysočina) in Havlíčkův Brod and in Městská knihovna (Town library) in Třebíč. It is focused on the current status and it describes new trends in the work of librarians with seniors in these libraries. This work deals with basic terminology, outlines the perspectives of growing-old, describes different forms of active aging. Further lists specifics of the work of librarians with the population of seniors, solves problems of education of seniors in libraries. The conclusion of the labour adverts to advantages of memory-training and brain-jogging in libraries.

Educational Courses for the Public organized by Masaryk Public Library in Vsetin

The thesis deals with educational events organized for the public by The Masaryk Public Library in Vsetin. The goal of the thesis is an analysis and enrichment of educational courses and seminars for selected target groups of citizens in the context of other educational and community activities. Special emphasis is given to projects co-financed from the European Union funds. This thesis focuses on courses of computer and information literacy, motivational seminars, education of children endangered by social exclusion, technical seminars, e-learning courses and lectures for senior citizens. Marketing of the Vsetin library is also mentioned.
