A System For Eye Movement Tracking
Urbanová, Lucie
The goal of this project is to design the real-time eye movement tracking system, realise it and perform measuring on several subjects to verify its functionality and precision. The eye movement tracking system consists of a camera attached to the camera holder mounted on subject´s head. The camera captures the eye of the subject and the measuring software detects the iris. The software then calculates the location the subject is looking at using the input video of the eye, the calibration results and the head movement measuring device.
Location Aware Analytics In The Context Of Mobile Network Performance Optimization
Urbanová, Lucie
The goal of this paper is to develop an estimation tool capable of predicting location aware network parameters, based on their previous field measurements and to perform a set of additional measurements to verify the accuracy of the tool. Additionally, the paper evaluates a number of regression methods in terms of their prediction accuracy, complexity and the amount of input data needed to create a prediction map of valid results.
Location Aware Analytics in the Context of Mobile Network Performance Optimization
Contemporary Czech orthography workbooks and guides and their didactic use
Urbanová, Lucie ; Adam, Robert (advisor) ; Šmejkalová, Martina (referee)
This diploma thesis deals with the possibilities of use of contemporary workbooks and guides of Czech orthography, their quality and their position amongst other material didactic aids. It briefly introduces the concept of spelling from a linguistic viewpoint, defines the spelling curriculum in a didactic concept, and introduces the basic types of spelling exercises, as well as their advantages and risks. Empirical research was carried out through five selected publications. These were subjected to a detailed examination and the selected passages were subjected to a response from primary school respondents. This thesis analyses specific selected books, but moreover, it also aims to evaluate the possibilities and limits of commercial publications designed for spelling practice. The choice of the type of exercises included, the assignment's clarity, the content attractiveness of included texts, and the book's graphic processing and more are important factors in determining the quality of the given types of books.
Perception of reality and fiction in pre-school children.
URBANOVÁ, Lucie
This bachelor paper examines the ability of pre-school children to recognize the difference between fact and fiction. The research was carried out in a nursery school. The pre-schoolers were asked to watch short recordings excerpted from children's films and were subsequently interviewed. The research shows that the perception of fact and fiction by four- year-old children differs significantly in several aspects from the perception of reality by six-year-old children.
Effectiveness of teaching synthetic phonics to EFL students
Urbanová, Lucie ; Červinková Poesová, Kristýna (advisor) ; Uličná, Klára (referee)
The effectiveness of teaching synthetic phonics to EFL students Abstract This diploma thesis deals with the effectiveness of systematic and explicit Synthetic Phonics teaching methods in the EFL learning environment. The theoretical part of the text investigates the similarities and differences between teaching Synthetic and Analytic Phonics. Whether synthetic phonics is essential not only for native English speakers, but also for EFL students is examined. Furthermore, it introduces the changes and development in phonics teaching in a historical context. The practical section describes the test preparation and presents how the research methodology was applied. It also examines the data collected from testing four groups of Prague primary school children who have different experience of phonics. Last but not least, the empirical section presents the results of 60 students' readings and analyses their performances concluding with an assessment as to whether explicit Synthetic Phonics teaching instruction helps EFL students in pronouncing words or not. Key words: synthetic phonics, analytic phonics, phonemes, graphemes, pronunciation and articulation, spelling, reading, writing
Production of secondary metabolites in the explant cultures of Trichocereus pachanoi (Cactaceae)
Urbanová, Lucie ; Martin, Jan (advisor) ; Tůmová, Lenka (referee)
Production of secondary metabolites in the explant cultures of Trichocereus pachanoi (Cactaceae) Lucie Urbanová Diploma thesis Charles University in Prague, Faculty of Pharmacy in Hradec Králové, Pharmacy Key words: Trichocereus pachanoi, the explant cultures, mescaline, secondary metabolites, prodrugs, elicitation, cinnamic acid, sodium cinnamate, tryptophan, ozone, methylene blue The aim of this thesis was the research of effect of selected precursors and elicitors for secondary metabolite production of mescaline in explant cultures Trichocereus pachanoi. Suspension cultures were cultivated on the Murashige and Skoog medium with addition of the growth regulators 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid and 6-benzylaminopurine. To observe changes in production these precursors: cinnamic acid, sodium cinnamate and tryptophan, and these elicitors: ozone and methylene blue, were selected. Precursors were prepared and used in concentrations of 50, 100 and 500 mg·l-1. Ozone was added in two time slots, 5 and 10 seconds. Methylene blue has been used in concentrations of 1, 10 and 100 mg·l-1. Cultivation with added compounds lasted for 24 and 168 hours. The content of mescaline was determined by HPLC analysis. A statistically significant effect on the production of mescaline in vitro culture was proved only with...
Effectiveness of teaching synthetic phonics to EFL students
Urbanová, Lucie ; Uličná, Klára (advisor) ; Müller Dočkalová, Barbora (referee)
The effectiveness of teaching synthetic phonics to EFL students Abstract The diploma considers the effectiveness of systematic and explicit Synthetic Phonics teaching methods in the EFL learning environment. The theoretical section examines foreign language methodology - the field of reading acquisition in young learners, especially English language pronunciation. It studies how systematic explicit Phonics approach can help in learning how to read and pronounce words correctly. It explores the similarities and differences between teaching Synthetic and Analytic Phonics, and compares them. Furthermore it discusses whether synthetic phonics is useful not only for native English speakers, but also for EFL students. The practical part focuses on testing two groups of children who have different experiences of phonics. The data were collected in Prague and the Hradec Králové region. There were 62 students tested out of whom 33 were in a control group and 29 were taught using a systematic Phonics approach. A specially designed test consisting of two different activities was applied. It tested word reading, non-word pronouncing and sight word recognition. The aim of the research was to find out whether explicit Synthetic Phonics teaching instruction helps not only native English speakers, but also EFL learners in...
