Energy audit of water supply
Pavliš, Jan ; Tuhovčák, Ladislav (referee) ; Kučera, Tomáš (advisor)
This document aims on presentation of energy audit of water networks. Its focus is to introduce the method of solving the energy audit of water networks. It characterizes the water networks performance using context and efficiency indicators. It consists of theoretical description of mathematical approach to the problem. It describes different kinds of energies participating in water distribution process and also presents energy indicators which describe energetic efficiency of water networks. Last but not least it shows the possibilities of accomplishment the energy audit of water network on numerical example. Then we can find the assessment of each of indicators and kinds of energies. Context indicators describe topography of water network and efficiency indicators show how efficient in terms of using input energy is the behavior of the water networks. The case application of the approach of solving energy audit of water networks as well as indicators assessment can be found in the last part of the thesis. This thesis brings basic overview of the approach to the solution of energy audit of water networks. May it help the future application of the energy audit of water networks in the Czech Republic.
Performance indicators of selected water utilities in Czech Republic
Vaculík, Tomáš ; Sucháček, Tomáš (referee) ; Tuhovčák, Ladislav (advisor)
This Bachelor thesis id focused on comparative analysis performance indicators of chosen water companies in the Czech Republic. The first task of this assignment was collecting and processing of basic and supplemented indicators of chosen water companies. These indicators were recorded to the file created in excel. All data of all companies are freely available on the internet page: www.justice.org, where these companies are required to post their annual reports. In the first part of this bachelor thesis, organizations are described, companies and applications dealing with the issue of comparative analysis in the water companies. Representatives are elected from the foreign sector (IWA, IBNET, EurEau, EBC), as well as from the home sector (SOVAK, Metodika MZe, WaBe). The second part of this thesis begin with presentation of all companies, which is provided with comparative analysis. Analysis were from the biggest part processed by the application WaBe. For the better overview of this work, graphs made in application excel were added to this analysis.
Technical Audit and Risk Assessment of Water Tanks
Tanistrová, Lucie ; Komínek, Jiří (referee) ; Tuhovčák, Ladislav (advisor)
The diploma thesis is primarily focused on risk analysis and risk assessment of drinking water supply systems. In the research, the issues of risk analysis and risk assessment considering world and Czech Republic, were summarized. Software WaterRisk, which was developed by BUT Brno, was used for risk assessment of a particular water supply system in Třebom. Next, the thesis is aimed on technical audit of water tanks. There was a research of technical audit in the world and in the Czech Republic. Also assessment of technical audit of a particular water tank, which had to be anonymized, using software TEAwater is described in detail. Two conditions were considered: before and after reconstruction.
Using Artificial Neural Network Models to Assess Water Quality in Water Distribution Networks
Cuesta Cordoba, Gustavo Andres ; Tuhovčák, Ladislav (advisor)
A water distribution system (WDS) is based in a network of interconnected hydraulic components to transport the water directly to the customers. Water must be treated in a Water Treatment Plant (WTP) to provide safe drinking water to consumers, free from pathogenic and other undesirable organisms. The disinfection is an important aspect in achieving safe drinking water and preventing the spread of waterborne diseases. Chlorine is the most commonly used disinfectant in conventional water treatment processes because of its low cost, its capacity to deactivate bacteria, and because it ensures residual concentrations in WDS to prevent microbiological contamination. Chlorine residual concentration is affected by a phenomenon known as chlorine decay, which means that chlorine reacts with other components along the system and its concentration decrease. Chlorine is measured at the output of the WTP and also in several considered points within the WDS to control the water quality in the system. Simulation and modeling methods help to predict in an effective way the chlorine concentration in the WDS. The purpose of the thesis is to assess chlorine concentration in some strategic points within the WDS by using the historical measured data of some water quality parameters that influence chlorine decay. Recent investigations of the water quality have shown the need of the use of non-linear modeling for chlorine decay prediction. Chlorine decay in a pipeline is a complex phenomenon so it requires techniques that can provide reliable and efficient representation of the complexity of this behavior. Statistical models based on Artificial Neural Networks (ANN) have been found appropriated for the investigation and solution of problems related with non-linearity in the chlorine decay prediction offering advantages over more conventional modeling techniques. In this sense, this thesis uses a specific neural network application to solve the problem of forecasting the residual chlorine
Benchmarking of peformance indicators for some of Czech water utilities
Štěpán, Ondřej ; Ježek, Jiří (referee) ; Tuhovčák, Ladislav (advisor)
This bachelor paper is focused on Benchmarking of peformance indicators for some of Czech water utilities. Firstly it was necessary to gather data for the further analysis which were after compared within the companies. The paper is mainly focused on the companies which come under the international company ENERGIE AG, Austria.
The proposal for the monitoring of groundwater resources
Červenková, Martina ; Kučera, Tomáš (referee) ; Tuhovčák, Ladislav (advisor)
The bachelor thesis follows up the analysis of current state of monitoring groundwater sources – wells, in terms of their quantitative usage and monitoring of water quality. The first part is focused on general information about usage of groundwater in the Czech Republic and in foreign countries too, ways of technical solution of groundwater captation and the description of them. In the second part there is made up the proposed model of monitoring underground water source, the way and frequency of observation of proposed parameters and the resulting demands on technical equipment of collecting objects. Then the implementation of the proposal on two specific areas follows. Finally at the end of this thesis there are described appropriate proposed procuration.
Technical Audit of Water Tanks
Šlesinger, Jan ; Svoboda,, Miroslav (referee) ; Tuhovčák, Ladislav (advisor)
This diploma thesis aims to design a methodology for technical audit of water tanks. The first part presents basic information on water tanks, followed by a brief summary of Czech legislation related to developing water tank renewal financing plans. The key part of the thesis is designing the structure of TEAA water tanks module, which will be included in TEA Water methodology, being developed at Institute of Municipal Water Management. The module under proposal is implemented as a MS Excel application, which is used to assess selected water tanks. The assessment results are compared to results obtained using TEA Water web application, which implements a draft of the TEAA module from October 2014, and to the results obtained using TAWAT.xls application.
Technical Audit of Public Water Supply Systems
Večeřa, Milan ; Soják, Jaroslav (referee) ; Tuhovčák, Ladislav (advisor)
Thesis deals with the technical audit of public water supply. The first part is devoted to the current state of the problem in the Czech Republic and abroad. The thesis describes the methodology developed by ÚVHO FAST Brno, which is used to evaluate technical condition of selected parts of the water supply infrastructure.
