Lead Acid Battery Charger
Jeleček, Ondřej ; Tonar, Karel (referee) ; Tošer, Pavel (advisor)
This diploma thesis is focused on design of lead acid baterry charger. First chapters describes the charging and discharging principes. This paper also shows basics types of lead acid batteries, their distribution depends on maintenance and part connected to the processes connected to the charging and discharging of the acumulators. Following part is focused on theoretical design of the charger with set up of parameters. Diploma thesis also contains comparsion of requested and real parameters of the charger.
Improving of use properties of lead-acid accumulator
Szabó, Jaroslav ; Tonar, Karel (referee) ; Abraham, Pavel (advisor)
Lead-acid accumulators are the oldest and most common type of secondary cells. There are still some problems to solve. Grid corrosion in sulphuric acid is one of them, which reduced lifetime of lead-acid accumulators. The first part of work is focusing on a general theoretic description of lead – acid accumulators. Following is a description of the workstation and method of measuring. The final part of the text is measuring on an experimental cell.
Thermal sensors communication with CPLD using SMBUS
Tonar, Karel ; Rumánek, Jaroslav (referee) ; Kováč, Michal (advisor)
The goal of bachelor’s thesis is the introduction with two - wire circuit communication on the SMBUS, it is concretely related to alternate communication of FPGA with thermal sensors. The bachelor’s thesis also contains the choice of optimal thermal sensor, the proposal of module for measuring the temperature and proposal of programme for Programmable Logical Device. The programme processes data from the modules of temperature measurement and data are indicate on LED display. The programme makes it possible to display minimum, maximum and average temperature during certain time interval. All of programmes are implemented for logical device in VDHL language. The thermometer sends data to Personal Computer over UART interface. There is temperature displayed and storaged once again. During working on this bachelor’s thesis was used SPARTAN-3 starter board and design system Xilinx ISE 9.2i.
Investigation of carbon effect in negative active mass on lead-acid accumulator for HEV.
Tonar, Karel ; Křivík, Petr (referee) ; Bača, Petr (advisor)
The lead-acid bateries for hybrid-electric vehicle (HEV) working under high-rate partial-state-of-charge (HRPSoC) conditions. The negative plates of lead-acid batteries have low charge acceptance. The cycle life of the batteries is dependent on the rate accumulation of PbSO4 on the negative plates. Addition of some carbon or graphite forms to the negative paste mix improves the charge efficieny and slows down sulfation of the negative plates. The master’s thesis wants to explain the contribution of electrochemically active carbon (EAC) additives to the mechanis of the electrochemical reaction of charge of the negative plates.
Solar Charger
Sygeryč, Daniel ; Tonar, Karel (referee) ; Tošer, Pavel (advisor)
This bachelor’s thesis deals with the charging of the batteries by a solar energy. Great emphasis is placed on maximum utilization of the energy obtained. The development, the principle and characteristics of the photovoltaic cell were described. Next chapter is focused on lead-acid batteries. There are presented the characteristics and principles of their charging. This thesis also deals with the implementation of solar charger using solar controller, switching voltage inverter, Step-Down converter, protective and signaling circuits as well. There is also described the design and calculation of the solar charger circuit board.
