Hellebrandová, Lenka ; Tomeš, Jiří (advisor) ; Opluštilová, Irena (referee)
The aim of the diploma thesis is to evaluate the efficiency of local governance in selected municipalities in the Ústecký region based on analysis of the use of finance. The theoretical part is devoted to the issues of public administration, governance and local budgeting with emphasis on the possibilities of evaluating the efficiency. The research focuses on the analysis of current and capital expenditure on development activities and solving local and regional problems - unemployment and social exclusion - for the period 2002 - 2012. Further research focuses on the use of EU funds. It was able to demonstrate the existence of significant differences in the efficiency of governance on the example of surveyed municipalities. The period under consideration is election to the Chamber of Deputies from 2006 to 2013. Furthermore, this paper aims at defining the type and strength of certain factors which are specific to areas with higher support for the Green Party. The electoral support is illustrated with maps and charts by using common electoral geography methods. In order to explain the relationship between chosen factors and electoral support, correlation and regression analysis has been used. Ďurica, Michal ; Tomeš, Jiří (advisor) ; Ženka, Jan (referee)
The thesis compares and analyses the development of production/consumption of energy in the EU28, in selected countries (Austria, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland, Hungary, Slovenia), and especially in the Czech Republic and Slovakia in the context of accepting and development (change) of energy policies. The main aspect of the work was to analyze trends in energy consumption and (in) dependence, structure of energy production/consumption, particularly with the application potential of alternative energy sources and energy savings. This thesis confirmed that there are significant differences in achieving the main objectives of EU energy policy among states. Statistical (correlation) analysis did not confirmed a significant dependence between the energy (in) dependence, the energy saving rates and the share of alternative energy sources. Synthetic index of energy change has evaluated Hungary and Slovakia from selected countries with the best energy progress since 2004. It was not proved that Slovakia or Czech Republic have a consistent long-term energy policy that they would explicitly followed. Key words: energy policy, energy savings, energy consumption, energy dependence, European Union

The impact of the local presence of Czech political parties on the results of general election
Tenkl, Miroslav ; Kostelecký, Tomáš (advisor) ; Tomeš, Jiří (referee)
The Master thesis raises three main research questions: (1) whether and eventually how much the presence of political parties at the local level affects results of these parties in elections to the Chamber of Deputies, (2) how much the population size of the municipalities makes a difference in the relationship between local and national level of the politics and (3) how much the electoral behaviour of the Czech population is given by structural factors and by contextual factors respectively. The analytical body of the thesis is structured into four main chapters. In the first part of the research, the power of the relation between elections to the Chamber of Deputies and to the municipal councils is measured. For this purpose, the correlation analysis is used. The relation is watched through two categories of the population. The first chapter is followed by the crucial part, which aims to find out whether and eventually how much the presence of political parties at the local level affects results of these parties in the elections to the Chamber of Deputies. Moreover, this relation is compared with structural factors of the population based on which the electoral behaviour is typically studied. This analysis is divided into three categories of the population. The spatial regression analysis is...
Impact of Czech polititians foreign activities on development of foreign trade and investment
Hofman, Pavel ; Tomeš, Jiří (advisor) ; Blažek, Jan (referee)
With the continuing process of globalization, national economies are intensively interconnecting with external enviroment. It is especially visible for Czech Republic, which geopolitical position stresses the importance of external business relationships. Economic prosperity of countries with open economy is largely determined by export performance and inflow of foreign direct investments, both of which are supported by economic diplomacy. The first scope of this thesis is to evaluate the economic diplomacy of Czech Republic, and secondly to empirically analyze the tools, which economic diplomacy is using - foreign visits of polititians and role of embassies. The gravity model of international trade was used to study the influence of both tools on the foreign trade and investment in Czech Republic between years 1993-2013. The results show, that if at least one visit per year was realized, the export grows by 14%. However, one average high official visit is associated with rising exports by about 4.7%. On the other hand, any realtionship with FDI was not found. Further analysis confirms the importance of the embassies and thier positive impact on foreign trade, in particular with culturally distant countries, where this effect is more pronounced. Futhermore the study showed fading effect of economic...
The word of cross. Meaning of the motive of cross in the parenetic context of 1Cor 1,10 - 2,5
Tomeš, Jiří ; Roskovec, Jan (advisor) ; Pokorný, Petr (referee)
Thesis Word of the Cross: Significance of the Cross mofit in the peneretic context. 1. K 1,10-2,5 deals with the New Testament also discusses briefly about its author, the choir, which is the addressee. In the main section on the biblical section concerns the relation of the first section, which bears the name "The division in the congregation" (which is a division of the local church) with the rest of the text, where it is a cross, which is foolishness to those who go to perdition, but wisdom and power of God for the chosen ones. The apostle Paul shows that argument on two examples in which the Church itself, with not many noble, powerful and wise in it, but who are nevertheless chosen, which is a shame for many. The second example is the weakness in performance and fear. So preached the gospel to the cross of Christ through wisdom did not lose sense. The apostle Paul warns that the reliance on human (celebrities), his wisdom, personality and rhetorical art does not make sense, because only through the cross, which is foolishness to man, can stand on the path to salvation. Regional Development in Sweden after 1990
Klíma, David ; Tomeš, Jiří (advisor) ; Vogt, David (referee)
Purpose of this paper is to study if and how are changing regional pattern and regional disparities in last decades in Sweden, one of the most homogeneous country in the world. Globalization and intensified competitiveness which affect not only companies and economic sectors, but also states and regions contribute to a changing pattern. Even a traditionally homogeneous and egalitarian Sweden is changing. Paper examines regional development in Sweden by social-economic indicators and basic statistic and indicates wider connection of this development. Basic hypothesis is that crisis and intensified competitiveness contribute to a deepening of regional disparities. In last twenty years regional disparities are growing indeed and they are probably related to a recession, but dominant factors cannot be pointed out with certainty. Increase of regional variability is related to just some social and economic aspect. In many aspects Sweden remains the most homogenous country in Europe. The paper is focused on county level. Key words: regional development, regional disparities, Sweden, globalization, crisis
